Any opinions? For couple travelling together, but interested in best for solo traveller also.

TIA.

Travelled on BA009 LHR-BKK-SYD last month (CW UD).
Was initially a bit apprehensive but Upper Deck is very good with only 5 rows. It's highly prized by the BAEC members.

For a solo traveller best seat is 64A.

For a couple, best seats (for us) were 63JK, the only row that doesn't involve someone having to step over someones feet, to exit seat.
63J has extra legroom. Privacy is OK because the crew seat partition is just in front.

The pax in 63K can exit forward between the arm rest & the window. I'm about 78kg and managed to squeeze through. (63A can also).
Otherwise choose seats in Row 62 which are also very good, but the window seats aren't as private.

And the fiz is Tattinger.

There's a lot of information in this FT thread:

From my massive experience of 1 BA 744 J flight, I can confirm 64K is excellent for a solo traveller. Very private, and no worries about getting in/out in the middle of the night.

Cheers,

Danny

I normally grab 62A or K - straight exit to the cabin and a window seat.

62A or K boy here. When travelling with SWMBO she prefers me to book 17E and F. With the dividers up it is like a private cabin.

Although I like the YingYang seating, I did find turbulence more "noticeable" overnight when laying backwards in window seat (maybe just not used to it). And don't expect the IFE to work reliably (we lost it BBKK-SYD).

Flying as a couple.
Thinking of getting 62A and 62B, does passenger 61A climb over 62B to get out?
Thanks

64A (preferred) or 64K to me, although I do have some reservations about the yin-yang seating when not next to an attractive face.

63K for me. I get it (almost) every time I fly with BA. I have no problem with flying facing the rear, and love being on the window and being able to get straight out (via door space at exit). Perfect for overnight flights.

What is take off like facing backwards?

I like it, it still feels a bit strange but you get used to it. The landing is better as you get the back support from the seat.

A bit confused here. Is it not 62K which exits via the door space? At 63K are you not stepping over 64J to exit?

Edit
just read Blu's post re the squeezing forward from 63K, sorry about that.

We have had 64AB with Mrs Zx a couple of times and this has worked very well, she does not mind the rear facing and prefers the window, also good for dinner talk and A is probably the pick for singles as well. AB is also preferred to JK which are next to the toilets. We are also using 62JK, exit row, at Christmas so that will be interesting.

If you prefer not to climb the stairway to heaven 12JK can be very quiet on a Hi J configuration or any of the middle EF are great for couples.

And dont forget 4&5 AE, FK if you get an op up:mrgreen:

If 63A& K know to use the unofficial exit between the seat & window, then 64B&J will have no one stepping over their feet (which then makes row 64 a good couples choice).

Maybe I will go with 63 A and B... we can sit "together" and still get out without disturbing anyone

OR

go for 62 A and 62 K :p
