Re: Unasked Status Upgrade

just checked partners status,

she goes from bronze to gold with a year and a half to expiry ,we do have europe j tickets booked for christmas, dont know if that had anything to do with it, but looking forward to first lounge in Sydney!!

Re: Unasked Status Upgrade

I am from the gold coast and have been upgraded from silver to platinum, whats more it does not expire until june 2014,

i am stoked, something for nothing from Qantas.

Good for those that got the gift from QF, but IMHO a salp in the face to those that have to earn WP (esp self funded).

Not totally jaded, I can see why they're doing it… just a shame they haven't extended my year to 2014 too (not that it matters as I have travel booked to do exactly that very shortly… so 2015 would be welcome :p)

Why?

Does self funding make you more righteous than a work funded traveller? In the same vein, why shouldn't QF comp WP to locals when they open a new route?

IMHO - good on anyone who got the comp, see you in a J lounge some time.

Before flaming me, I did SYD/MEL/SYD weekly self funded for 12 months last financial year.

I'm not sure how I feel about this development. Leaning towards not caring. But I'm not entirely sure about the silver to platinum upgrade. (this is not a dig at the person who got that). If someone is silver already then they must be doing a fair bit of flying with QF/earning QF status despite the lack of routes from OOL. If we make the assumption that they are already ensuring they get all SC possible from their flying needs, I'm not sure there will be double the amount of flying/SC just because they can now fly OOL-SYD. I'm not sure lack of OOL flights has prevented them getting to Platinum

Bronze to gold on the other hand, bronze status may indicate that the lack of a route has been a factor.

Not a pony? :p

Can I have one of those too :)

That's more like it.

I sort of feel the same way, unless (highly unlikely) Qantas plans to introduce a J lounge at OOL to complement the QP, then from a Bronze or Silver level, Gold seems about right, even with an extended expiry date, Platinum seems overkill, unless you're [-]rewarding[/-] incentivising those that are already Gold… which brings me to why I haven't been given P1 :p

But as I said, not jaded or bitter, I can see why it's happening, just sad I missed out on a sweetener on this occasion.

It'll be the business lounge for you with Gold status, not the First.....

I think you missed this ;)

Terrier was upped to Platinum. First lounge comment seems to be separate to their partner getting gold.

A question to those bumped up. Is to to the equiv level when QF operated was it 4 years ago? May be just a recognition that it was hard to keep status when their metal wasnt available from yr home port
Well done try to reconnect with those that used to give them a fair slice of their spend.

Standby while I check my QF status......nope still bronze

that seems to make sense, as i was platinum and my partner was gold, no doubt they will be sending a letter out explaining their reasons

That seems more reasonable - comping to previous highest status.
Just surprised the marketing guff is so far behind.

Really? Surprised that the left hand is hardly communicating with the right hand?

My initial reaction was a little put out - although I shouldn't given I was comped to WP the first time and used DSCs to get P1.

It makes a lot more sense to be comping people back to their old level - hopefully this sustains the route by drawing people back in.

Is there any update on this? I'm a Virgin Platinum and still have all my frequent flyer details registered on the Gold Coast, and it's my most travelled port. Would be keen to try the other side.

Did you have QF status previously - specifically at the time they pulled out of OOL? If not then you are likely to be out of luck.

I was Platinum when they pulled out now Bronze. Live on coast and did around 3600 plus SC with DJ

I was silver when they pulled out .... gold now.

Don't think I'm the target audience. But in any case I updated my address to my OOL one! (spend equal amounts of time between OOL and BNE).
