Does anyone have some constuctive comments on LAN airways business class product from Sydney to Santiago and return.

What do you mean ¨constructive¨??

If you just want opinion on their service, etc, IMHO they are great. Great wine, staff, fully flat seats etc. I fly the route regularly - probably do more on QF due to some nostalgic feelings of being Australian, in all sincerity they are both great. Main effective differences are that LAN does the short stop in AKL whereas QF fly direct, and if you have connections in SCL these may be shorter depending which carrier you choose.

Also really liked the the LAN J product.Very comfortable, really good service and the wines were very good.

Thanks juddles, I wanted information like you and drron have given. So many times you get replies with disgruntled people who have had IFE problems, or the beers not cold etc etc.
The flight nos I have been give was LA806 and I was told it was non stop. Do you think I have been given the wrong info?

searched on LAN website.. LAN806 states 'operated by QANTAS Airways'..which is the QF27 SYD-SCL NONSTOP.

no probs..and it's highly likely you will be on a 744ER SKYBED MKII aircraft (a la A380 style)...enjoy the journey!!:D

I'm a fan of LAN's J product. I agree with the others that it is a really good product. The food and drink is excellent (and way better than QF out of Santiago) and the cabin layout generous for space (and toilets....)
It's really a toss up for convenience.
LAN is daily, and gets you in before lunch. I don't mind the Auckland break on the way out.
LAN also leaves late at night from Santiago allowing a full day of work/pleasure, an evening meal and then home. The Auckland stop is however a pain on the way back (often a long wait for customs to open at 4am). QF's midday departure (3 days a week) is less convenient, but nice and direct.

In summary, you won't be disappointed whichever you choose.
For interest, I fly ex BNE and have chosen to go with LAN on my upcoming trip to Chile,

Thanks everybody for your replies regarding LAN flights. it was unknown to me at the time of asking the question but it has now become apparent that even though I am looking at travelling on a LAN flight it seems that it will be a code share and the actual plane etc will be Qantas product. Up side I guess is that it is direct and no Auckland stop over, down side I guess is that I wont be able to break the trip in Auckland to visit family. Anyway, thanks for the constructive comments.

Re the codeshare, yes you are on a QF plane. My personal choice is the LAN flight towards Australia as I can jink right and bypass Sydney (good connection AKL-BNE) as per Cannyman I head to Brissy. But travelling the other way I dont mind a stint in the QF Flounge followed by an overfly of NZ. And some of my favorite QF staff in J ply this route.

Out of interest, is SCL your final destination?

Last thing, more reminiscing rather than help comment, but in the old days a trip to Chile this way involved stopovers in NZ (or Noumea/etc), then Tahiti, then Easter Island. The direct flights on the QF 747 ER´s are an amazing advance. Enjoy.

.

My intended itinerary is Sydney - Santiago - Rio de Janero - Iguazu falls - Buenos Aires - Santiago to connect with flight back to Sydney

Have fun in Argentina. I love the place, but it can be truly chaotic. If you are a wine lover then hammer the Malbecs. As for Iguazu - I am a typical ex-pat in that I have lived here for years but still havent managed to do the tourist things. It is on my ¨bucket list¨ (havent seen the movie but I get the concept)

I flew QF27 to SCL not too long ago and if you are travelling solo, I highly recommend seat 5B or 5J if you can get them.

Boy was I wrong on this one.
I flew BNE Santiago last Sunday and the service was quite the worst I've experienced on plane in a very long time. Surly, almost angry attendant was so unpleasant and resentful that my travelling companion said she felt 'hated' for daring to fly with them. Service was impossibly slow, wine (which was good) was grudgingly distributed and dried up after 2 pours.
I will be making an official complaint and will not fly LAN again. Quite a turn round from being a bit of a fan of their product.

They seem to be fitting in with the Qantas mould of consistently, inconsistent service. I will be interested to hear the results of your complaint.

I thought it was a One World requirement

It was a QF code share/flight number so I'm going to complain to both QF and LAN today. I have the name of the particular attendant and will be sure to let LAN know.

Canny man, am doing SCL - BNE in a couple of weeks and I chose the QF metal. I am disappointed with your LAN experience. Let me know if you get any joy out of your complaint. Might avoid them for a while.

Been to all these places....it will be an ABSOLUTELY fantastic trip!
