As part of return leg of a DONE4, I'm going to do LHR-BNE, but it will be LHR-SIN-HKG-BNE, or LHR-HKG-SIN-BNE.

By then I will be WP (OWE).

Bearing in mind that both are overnight flights, does anyone have suggested preference for A380 on QF to SIN (and CX SIN-HKG-BNE, or CX to HKG their 747 (then CX HKG-SIN, QF SIN-BNE)? I think the CX flights are not their new business, but I could be wrong? I suppose the other options for either of those legs is BA...

Thanks

Personally I go with the A380 whenever possible, and managed to get a solid 8hrs sleep when flying in J SIN-LHR recently.

Advantages of LHR-SIN-HKG-BNE:
-Able to go 'shopping' in HKG without transiting anywhere else overseas should you be in possession of any non-genuine merchandise
-A380 fully-flat Skybed II LHR-SIN

Advantages of LHR-HKG-SIN-BNE:
-Most likely a QF 747 for the redeye from SIN to BNE as opposed to a CX A330 from HKG-BNE as above
-Ability to buy duty-free in SIN (unable in HKG due to restrictions)

I'm sure others will be able to list more, but my preference would be LHR-SIN-HKG-BNE :)

Any chance you can make it LHR-SIN-HKG-xSYD-BNE? You get the QF A380 LHR-SIN, and then a choice of the same or CX's new J "Cirrus" for the HKG-SYD sector.

Good suggestion, but all 16 sectors used...

(BNE-MEL-LAX-DFW-BWI, BWI-DFW-SEA-DFW, DFW-MIA-LHR-MAD-LHR, LHR-FRA-LHR, then this LHR-SIN-HKG-BNE, or LHR-HKG-SIN-BNE.

I'm leaning towards QF A380 LHR-SIN, unless there's strong views on CX254 J service -HKG being far superior?

thanks for all comments

I did LHR-HKG-MEL inCX J in March. Their J seats, both old and new configs, are so good for sleeping in. Far better than QF IMHO. If sleep is what you want, go CX. Oh, and the AvOD is far better too. QF wins in the food stakes though.

Both configs are great for sleeping, although I find the coffin way to narrow for a day flight. I've hit my elbows onto the side a few times, and I never manage to "hit" anything/anyone as such when I'm in Y... and I'm a slim build measuring a tiny 30" around my waist...

If I knew the new cathay J seats would be on the flight, then i'd definitely go CX J to HKG, and then QF J to Australia.

Otherwise, I would probably go BA J from LHR to SIN, and then QF J from SIN to Australia.

*but only QF A380... I avoid Skybed MK1's like the plague. So no SIN-BNE
