Convenient to blame line staff and not have a look at management for the ongoing losses......

The management probably have "aircraft stairs" made by Maserati

Going back in time, the history of Air India was that it was the only Indina Airline, and as such it had a glamour element to it within India. As a result it usually got loaded up by cronies and well connected types of ministers etc. Think jobs for the boys. Now of course as Indian skies have been liberated with private companies, Air India simply cannot compete with them, the service thats offered by Jet and Kingfisher is unimaginable compared to what Air India offer.

Its not surprising to see employees pilfering, rats jumping of a sinking ship it would seem.

But none of them are making money either. So there's something wrong in Indian aviation.

Had a chuckle when reading this article. Sounds like the plot for some absurd comedy. Just wonder if the problem stems from institutionalised graft and corruption that you commonly see more in old world countries.

Maybe the penultimate legacy issue!

Aside from the article headline I don't see much here that would be 'line staff'. I imagine you'd have to be pretty high up in order to have a paying J pax kicked out of your seat and to engineer the disappearance of aircraft seats and parts. It's not like cabin crew are sticking a row of seats in their handbag before going home for the night. I'd also imagine that there would be fairly tight controls on what line staff do with being fired the common penalty for stepping out of line.

As with all things I'd imagine the losses have more to do with an old boys network that's an integral part of the airline bypassing the normal profit intentions of the business in order to pay a bribe to uncle for any number of favours wholly unrelated to the airline itself.

Am I the only one who thought that comment sounded like QF?
