Does anyone have any insight into how strict velocity are with their resident requirement for membership? For example, would an american citizen residing in australia for a year qualify?

Basically, as long as you have an Australian address that they can send your membership card to, you're fine! They don't verify birth certificates or passports etc for membership :)

EDIT: I notice you show yourself as "VA Gold" - if you're already a member, then what is the problem? :p

I think my dad received his card in Hong Kong?
I've just checked the permitted country list, and it seems to have been recently expanded to also include Christmas Island, Cocos Island, Cook Islands, Fiji, New Zealand, PNG, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu - no HKG (or USA) though, so I'm not sure how he managed that one (unless he had a mail forwarding service).

Ahh you’re right, had to check, but it came to Australia.
