Tourists warned of Thailand airport scam

Do you realise that this story is nearly three years old?

I've been through BKK many times since then and never had a problem. Although the fact I've never stolen anything might play a part in my successfully going through there with no problems.

I knew there was a reason never to shop at BKK duty free. Not much different, and besides booze to .au still banned, so stay away.

Totally agree. The prices at the Duty Free are often on par with Sydney so there isn't much incentive anyway. I have my thoughts on Bangkok and corruption, which many people on this board have heard me moan about previously...

Isn't this story about 3 years old?

The scam reported could happen anywhere in Thailand or any other country in the world. We are prime targets because the Thais perceive we have an endless supply of money.

And to be honest there is nothing really wrong with Bangkok duty free. It is actually cheap compared to most duty frees around the world.
