Would you guest a total stranger into the Qantas Lounge?

Haven't had the opportunity YET to guest. About 10 yrs ago a man gave me a guest pass - I felt like I had won lotto prize !

I guested a girl into the F lounge on a recent JQ35 run that (un)fortunately was delayed by 2 hours. She had never been into a lounge ever. And also didn't realise that everything was free! the look on her face was priceless.

I won't even guest people I know into the lounge. :p

What sort of society would we find ourselves in if non status pax could gain entry to the privileged lounge domain willy-nilly. Society would fall apart. :p:p

NRT-SYD-MEL. At SYD, tried to get 2 friends in as guests and the lady at the desk almost took pleasure in advising me the rules had changed (I can accept the rule change, which I wasn't aware of, but not the attitude). I turned to my friends to say sorry, but then a guy who had wandered up to the desk mid-conversation said to me "I'll take one in". The lady said, through a clenched smile, to the guy, "Friends of yours?" He replied, deadpan, "Best Mates" and in we all went.

So I'd happily guest someone in in the right circumstances, but not actively seek out someone to guest.

I've never had the opportunity to guest a stranger in but a situation like this would be one where I would positively relish doing just to frustrate the dragon. Usually when I ask nicely I have been allowed to take two guests in with me even when only entitled to one.

I agree but then I look around at some of the people already there and realise that society has already fallen apart :!: :D :p

I've guested someone at SYD who I was sitting next to on a plane from LAX. Don't know if I'd be ever look around for people to approach, however. I think I'm only a 'good' samaritan by chance, rather than a purposeful one. :)

About 4 or so years ago I was checking in at CNS and as I left the checkin desk a backpacker who was next in line yelled out to me and let me know that I had dropped $10 from my pocket.

I was most impressed - and when I saw them again in the airside shopping area I offered to guest them into the QP.

They were most grateful for the opportunity to grab a drink and hop on the internet - and I had the warm fuzzy feeling inside from doing the right thing :)

Like the ones in the BNE lounge with their manky bare feet up on the tables.....................

I have no issues with guesting people into lounges, but it is often too difficult.

Society doesn't believe in something for nothing (which is wise), so why would a random stranger want to give you access to a "lounge" for no reason? And putting the hat on of a very inexperienced traveller - what is a lounge, where is it, what is the catch?

The people loitering around the lounges aren't the type I want to guest (normally). To me they seem like parasites that know the game and are after sympathy (Not the case in all situations, but IMHO it's the equivalent of a chugger standing outside a train station).

I still keep looking for opportunities to guest people into the lounges but I cannot seem to find anyone that would fit the category. I am not going to stand outside the lounge for 5-10 minutes waiting for someone suitable to walk past either.

By the way with the guesting I am not looking for someone for a conversation. Just simply to do a good deed to someone.

May be there needs to be an unofficial 'area' where people loiter so that we all know these people are looking to be our guests?
Or people could hang a white handkerchief hanging from themselves or some other indicator.
Heck if worst comes to worst ... a sign like the limo drivers have except saying "GUEST ME PLEASE".

yeah I've tried to guest a few strangers in. But it was surprisingly difficult to find someone who wanted comfy seats and free booze.

Certainly I have guested strangers into the QP.But I would not guest a lounge lurker.Only happened twice.Once a LOL who was being given a hard time at JQ checkin so I invited into the lounge.when asked if she would like a drink -it was yes please,a cup of tea thanks!
The second time I have recounted before after a cancelled flight from DPO and missing my JQ connection.A younger woman had also had that happened on her way to a family funeral. We were able to get transferred to a QF flight to BNE at no cost. She really appreciated the glass of sparkling.I felt a really warm buzz.

In Geneva last October in a third party lounge, the computers happened to be near the entry, I heard an aussie being knocked back. he was only Silver, but had mistakenly been directed to the lounge.

I jumped up and said, can I guest him in....no problem.

Good conversation and a couple of quiet beers......quite welcome when travelling on your own.

Same here. Started talking whilst waiting in line to change currency (airside) & quickly reliased that we were on the same flight attending the same conference in Vegas.

She had never been in a lounge before & walking into SYD Flounge her face just lit up.......she also appreciated the shower in the AA admirals lounge in LAX.

We have remained good friends.....

Many years ago guested a girl in lax (the old old lounge) who was getting grief at the desk
She ended up being a seat behind me in j so I don't know what the issue was
I learnt great deal about her private life after she had a few champagnes , some of which I still shake my head about today! She had a complex social life to say the least!
Otherwise have guested some randoms in line at the desk, usually where it's a family with one more child than access as I've spent the wait in the lax bar while my family we're in the f lounge due to the same issues.

I've guested two people in to an admirals club who were on the same flight as me that was delayed (They were going on exchange to australia).

I've also guested the person sitting next to me on the QF8 flight that stopped in AKL into the F lounge in AKL.

If anyone is in Perth airport after 7pm tomorrow 25th I would appreciate the gesture. Have a lengthy stopover and still at silver
