My first V lounge & flight since Plat

I was flying home to the Sunshine Coast today after spending a week with drron in tassie. I flew QF from DPO to MEL at 6.30am, arriving in the V lounge about 8am. I was booked on DJ 1509 at 9.25. I had a cappuccino and fruit toast for breaky, and tried to read a magazine, but there was a "business man" doing a loud DYKWIA nearby. I left the lounge about 9, boarded on time, I was sitting in 3C, all the BC seats were empty. After take off the FA asked me if I would like to move up into any of those seats, so I moved into 2C. The fellow who was sitting next to me in 3B thought he would move up too and sat in 1D. He was told very politely to get back to 3B as these seats were for BC and Plats ! YEH !!!! I must have been the only Plat on the plane as no one else was moved up. I was offered tea and coffee twice during the short flight. On arrival the male FA got my bag down from the over head, wanted to know if I wanted to get a jacket out of my bag ( it was raining) and wanted to carry my bag down the stairs for me ! Such service ! I am IMPRESSED

Sounds great Mrs dr.ron We didn't quite get the same treatment on our first DJ flights as plats: nearly missed the flight as there was no boarding call in the lounge
Pleasant spot in first row of Y though.
Whole family is flying DJ to BNE tomorrow so we'll see what eventuates.

Nice to see they are looking after their new Plat members. I'm only Gold (but now that SIA is onboard will hit Plat in May) and i've been in 3D for two of three flights, so nice lot of leg room there and got upgraded to PE on other flight, so i'm very happy with them too. Flying on points and pay business ticket for $57 NTL to MEL 10 Feb, cost a whole 57 dollars and 6690 points, so I went and booked the rest of the year out whilst the deal was on for every months trip while I was at it plus took HWTHMBO down for Aug trip with me and threw in accommodation at HOTP and a footy game at the MCG to tempt him and that was $66 points and pay too

I really think Virgin are making the most of the recent status match being such perfect timing for them, and now that they have our attention, they intend to do everything they can to keep us. Whoever decided on the status match promo must grin when they go to work every day at the results.

Mrs Andyc and myself were the only two passengers in J last night on an 8:30pm MEL-SYD. I thought it was very odd that nobody was upgraded to one of the six empty seats.
I guess there just aren't enough VA Platinum members around the place yet...

I'm believing they upgrade no one when there are paid PE/J aboard. Others might have a different experience, but my op-ups have only occurred when no one else has been in PE/J including yesterday MEL-BNE sector which was chockers in Y (looked like not a single spare seat, no shaddows on that one) but 5 spare J seats. I used fly ahead so landed 3B (hate middle) and would have loved an op-up (or for that matter, one of fellow neighbours if they were plats or gold would have achieved the same result).

So from mrs.dr.Ron, it would seem gold won't get upgraded, plat only.

I was gold, flying on Dec 26 with my family (they are all red) and we all got op-up to PE on a MEL/OOL flight. I went plarinum after that flight, and on our next leg from OOL/SYD on Dec 31, we all got upgraded to PE again. Nice!
