Heading to the UK in late August. Until last week was QC Bronze so when we looked for business points flights back from London to Brisbane we had no luck. We were given one option where we were going to be charged full business points but just get business between Hong Kong and Singapore and economy the other two legs. Since going silver last week, seats are available coming back via Singapore with both QF and BA. If I'd known that would happen I would have done a weekend in Melbourne earlier.

Anyways, we checked available award options and decided we'd go via Japan and have a stop over on the way back. WT+ NRT-LHR and CW LHR-NRT. Had been looking forward to QF business but we'll gladly accept what we've booked.

Read lots of posts on here about the difference between QF and BA business and also between the two premium economy offerings. 50/50 split on business but WT+ appears to have few fans.

Now that I am silver I get to select seats with BA seven days out instead of at online check in. Any recommendations, particularly for CW? Do we go for two middles so we are beside each other or two facing each other so one of us has a window?

BA offer WT+ and new WT+. The new looks much better than the old. Anyone know what our chances of experiencing the 'new'? We're flying on Aug 27.

Finally a Thai question. Do Thai still offer the at the gate paid upgrades that they once did? We're off to Thailand in March and got great priced flights so are thinking if they are offering we might be buying.

cheers
