Liquids at layover

Hi :)

I'm flying to Europe via SIN, and I'd like to buy a bottle of alcohol at the SYD duty free.
Will I get in trouble at SIN when reboarding the plane, or the customs will be ok, since the bottle would have been bought and sealed at a duty free?

Thanks for your answers!
Buy In SIN . It is a lot cheaper than AU

An interesting situation in relation to SIN and alcohol. I was on QF9 Mel to LHR in July and was at the back of Bus Class. They had run out of the prawn dish on the leg from Mel to SIN so they gave me and my wife a bottle of Chardonnay each as an apology?? They then advised that we had to take the bottles off at SIN and return via customs who promptly took the two bottles with a big smile and laugh indicating 2 more for us!! Is this something that has happened to others and is it a rort??

If it is properly bagged there should't be a problem . As for the airline freebys' get some glasses and end enjoy it on the plane

<insert deity of choice> giveth, and <insert deity again> taketh away.

While it was nice of the staff to do so, they probably should have known better (i.e. that you would lose the bottles at the gate security check). I doubt there is any rorting going on, you just fell foul of the rules.

Just to let you guys know, I bought my Bundy in Singapore, the security checked it at London for my last flight and confirmed that Singapore is indeed in the list of the allowed airports :)

Thanks again for all the replies!

  1. Can Australian-bound travellers pass through transit security at Doha with liquids over 100mL?
  2. Can Australian-bound travellers purchase duty free liquids over 100mL at Doha?

I just lost my duty free alcohol I purchased in Johannesburg as I didn’t think that as we had a 7 hour stop in Dubai and Emirates put us up at Le Meridian hotel for a few hours we had to clear customs and when I came back through they took my duty free off me even though it was sealed. My fault but didn’t realize Hotel was not a transit hotel.. I re bought it again in Dubai duty free at double the price.
