But Sam,
1. it's (mostly) a different market.
2. The only JQi routes are ex-OOL (not BNE).
3. BNE pax wont travel to OOL to take international flights unless it's insanely cheap.
4. The JQi(OOL) routes are to Japan - i'll accept that, Japan airlines had to pull out of BNE because it wasnt making money.

Doesnt explain why they cant have twice daily to sin, or regular 744 to sin, or daily to LAX. The answer is they want to shunt everyone through SYD and pax from BNE, MEL etc are realising the other carriers are far less hassle, and usually cheaper to boot.

yep bottom line profit is the most important thing for QF. as AJ sees significant growth in budget airlines, his vision in the next few years will be turning QF into RyanAir.

China Southern Airlines just started its daily service between china and brisbane. plus CX 2/day to HKG. SQ 2/day to SIN.

QF soon will have non existant coverage from BNE to asia if they cut down routes in august

boo flying to HKG the week before Dec... The new CX J would be a worth substitute I think...

Just had a look, and it seems China Southern is still 3-4 times weekly to BNE? Do you know when they're going daily?

QF can't even fill 2 flights/day out of Sydney to Singapore sometimes. Why do you think they'd put on two flights a day ex-BNE? Melb is bigger than BNE, and yet QF9/QF10 often has plenty of availability.

You've quoted me out of context. The point is, there's a heap of flights on various carriers to sin from bne (and syd and mel) but qf can't make 2 a day work from their home market. I was suggesting it's kind of hopeless, I'm aware they don't fill all their seats but they should be able to do so comfortably.

Have it on good authority that from DEC 1 QF 127 & QF128 will be operated by an A380
Just a data point.

I am booked on QF 127 in March next year (2012).

A 747 was originally scheduled to operate this flight.

I just got an email from QF asking me to confirm a booking change. The only difference I can see is the aircraft is now an A380 (and the flight departs 5mins earlier).

What date is that? In true AFF style if 127/128 change to the 380 I wouldn't mind changing a j award on 68 to that so I can experience both the 380 and 747 on the way back from a honeymoon:).

(redroo if you could sort that haha:))

And yet at MEL, they get a time change (8hrs earlier), downgraded aircraft (from 744 to 330), and lost HKG-LHR connection.

What about something for MEL?!

Yep, I just received the same email and found out that my flight from HKG - SYD being changed to A380. Departure date is Feb 25, 2012.

Starts from Sunday 15th Jan, 4 x weekly , I have been waiting for this, yipeee! Although an overnight option would be better than the day flight.

Annoyed about the LHR option dropping from HKG but this certainly makes up a little for that.

P.s. looks like mainly Sunday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (although occasionally I did find some Tuesdays thrown in)

Don't you know? SYD is much more important and better than MEL .... .... At least that is what QF thinks! If you want more A380 service, move to SYD!

To be Fair the media release also has expansion to daily from MEL-LHR and MEL-LAX,so the product is being shared around and providing consistancy ex MEL daily on 2 routes

It will also mean A380 services between Melbourne and London (via Singapore) will increase from six flights per week to daily and services between Melbourne and Los Angeles will increase from four flights per week to daily
