I have recently been upgraded from Gold Cards. I have annual fee free (due to previously being on Gold cards fee-free and refusing to change until they do so for free).

The Travel Insurance on the Diamond card seems quite good (especially compared to the Plat Amex Credit Card insurance). Better purchase protection, and has hire car excess coverage. Capped annually at 1m CBA points, with Amex earn at 3:$1 and MC at 1.25:$1, with conversion to QFF at 2:1. Amex reverts once you reach 120000pts (ie. spend beyond $40k).

Your second sentence is not correct. The earn rates you listed apply right up to the 1m CBA point cap. There is no reversion to a lower earn rate when you reach a sub-cap. See page 8 of the terms and conditions.

So for example, if you only used your Amex card you could spend $333,333 per year to earn 1m CBA points and convert those to 500,000 QFF points.

Received my card today.

A few interesting things:

- I have been given a PIN for my Amex card. Don't recall being given one for my old Plat Amex card. Makes it usable overseas in PIN-only countries (I assume!)
- The MC looks good. The clear section showing the antenna for the Paypass chip is a nice addition.
- Being a MC World, it does mean certain benefits around the globe which will be handy.

well, I received a free upgrade to Diamond from Platinum in the mail today

the only bit I dont get is it says "you'll receive all your beneifts of diamonds awars at the price of plat awards as long as you hold diamond awards"

does htis apply to those subscribed to QFF Direct.

also, my spenditure has gone from $25k per month, down to $1k due to changes in personal circumstances

can anybody else see any advantages of having a diamond card other then for wank factor?

to be honest, I don't go near the caps, I dont use the master card (i use citibank for all visa/mc purchases where amex is not accepted/surcharged

I dont like the annual fee of the plat card, I got it waived for the initial year, but have tried since but to no avail.

I dont particularly see any benefit, will my limit stay the same? its very high already at $85k

I dont intend to use concierege...

I called up CBA since I got the free upgrade letter, and iI asked them to waive the fee for the first year (im on plat at present)

if they don't waive it, I 'll probably cancel it, they simply offered me to close it on the spot for me....nuts

just curious whats the benefits of world mastercard?
i saw somewhere here it mentions spg gold after 1 night of booking.
is there a ref link somewhere

Rang up Commbank card services this week to cancel my plat cards - which have hardly been used since I switched to the Citi Select.

Explained that the plat cards weren't as good value points earning wise as the Citi Select, when asked why I wanted to cancel, and was immediately offered an upgrade to the diamond cards, with annual fee waived for the first year. Told them I'd think about it - but I don't think I'll take it up.

maybe im doing it wrong, but how far do you have to go before they offer the free upgrade/fee waiver?

im a little reluctant to do it in case it goes too far that my card gets cancelled with no hope of reinstanting it......

welldone btw.!

I got offered the Diamond for same price as Platinum, I took up the offer as I hit the cap last year, which resulted in me going with the NAB cards with no limits, as I do all my banking with CBA I dumped the NAB card when offered Diamond as i'll not reach the 1million points cap and banking is instantaneous rather than bpay to pay card off.As for MasterCard world, total waste of time as it's for USA residents, only accepts 5 digit post codes, if you go to US slot maybe ok.

My folks have this card - will look into the finer details tomorrow - right now I'm on the ANZ FF Platinum and need something better.

So despite the offer of the Diamond card for "no extra cost" they've gone and charged me the Platinum annual fee even though I've had no annual fee for the last 6 years on the wealth package!

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Will have to give them a call tomorrow I think!

oo let me know how you go if you can waive it that would be great they told me that if i chose to upgrade i wouldnt be charged up until nov' and thats when I would be charged the A.fee.

got my card today,

looks quite nice, very similar to the platinum card, just darker

I posted my form back, 2 weeks later I called to check if they had received it, they hadnt so the guy manually applied for me over the phone,

1 week later, I get an email stating that my app had been rejected because the name didn't match the card/account
I was like WTF, the guy on the phone applied it for me, after he had confirmed my idnetity

so I call up and they said that my card had been shipped out and to ignore the email

They will be waiving it because I got the offer in the mail for a free upgrade, and I was already paying nothing on the wealth package. I don't think they'll just waive it if you just ring up and ask.

I went to the branch and they are sorting it out.

Update: i'm a little disappointed that Ive used my card once and its already scratched and peeling,

would have thought being the flagship card, that it would be sturdier and stronger

Yeah I agree, it's pretty flimsy.

Although a hire car driver did say "oh a black Amex, I haven't seen one of those before". I did have to say it's not a proper black Amex!

I'm thinking about this card. I currently have CBA Visa Gold ($115 per year) and have been offered the card for no extra cost. My other card is an ANZ platinum QFF, which is capped for points at a ridiculously low level. I don't have an AMEX card at present and was considering applying for their platinum charge + credit card ($900 pa, but tax deductible). Putting BAS on the Amex + all my other spending will probably yield ~ 300,000 points per year:).

Would I be better off with CBA Diamond + its linked AMEX card, or should I just go for the AMEX platinum product? I will have Gold QFF status soon.
