According to this thread, it can take awhile for AA to post points. If I was to do a few flights and went up in status halfway, is there any way for me to prove to AA halfway that I've actually achieved this? I assume I don't get the SC on QF until AA posts, so my online account wouldn't even register me being gold or platinum. Is it tough cookies, I won't be able to access the lounge even though I've flown past the gold/plat threshold?

NB: I'm not worried about the correct QFF points actually posting and the correct status bonuses being applied, I'm more concerned about my status benefits (lounge access) while on my travels.

It's late so maybe not so clear, but hopefully some of you can understand my question

AA are pretty quick. Some examples from my last US trip:

30 Apr post for 29 Apr flight.
28 Apr post for 27 Apr flight.
25 Apr post for 23 Apr flight.

(They are a *lot* quicker than they once were ... although were still pretty good then. You do occasionally get flights that fail to post though).

Being a newly minted status member does make accessing overseas lounges a little more problematic. But you can always try.

You can print out the "Your Summary" page and try and use that. An alternative (may not help too much with lounge entry, but will help with getting the right status on your BPs) is to call AA reservations and see if they will "refresh" your FF number (remove /re-add) to get your new status. Another option is to call QF, and request that they send you a PDF that validates your new status and print that out.

oneWorld has numbers that staff can call to verify status of members (apparently). But staff are always reluctant to call...

Hope it all goes well. But without the physical card, it does make entry a little bit harder if the "lounge dragon" wants to make life difficult.

From my experiences AA are quick to post points, all done within a week of travelling.
As for the status updates you should be able to call QF and get a letter e-mailed stating your current status.
Have found the AAngels to be pretty good in recognising new status.

I'm more afraid that my summary page won't yet be updated overnight, because AA hasn't posted the flights, therefore my SC won't have been posted either.

For example, if I was on a flight today (Saturday) and I crossed Gold threshold, but the points don't post until Monday, will my summary page on Sunday show I'm Gold so I can get lounge access on the Sunday? In this type of cutting-it-fine scenario, will there be any point to even calling QF if they haven't received flight info. from AA.

I flew AA domestic recently and had to send QFFF my boarding pass to get the points.

I've found AA flights post very fast now. In Jan I flew SXM-MIA-DFW-SEA and the first flight had already posted by the time I was sitting in the Admirals Club in DFW, and the second has posted while I was in the air from DFW-SEA!

In that type of situation, yep. Likely to be issues. QF don't have proof that you've flown the sectors at that point of time... so are unlikely to be able to do much.
