V Australia - Los Angeles with Etihad?!

Hi,

I was just browsing the forums, and noticed the following odd advertisement:



Why would VA be advertising Etihad to LA (I'm guessing via AUH) when they do it direct across the pacific? Or are they advertising Etihad's codeshare on VA metal? Either way, quite strange...

If Etihad has cheap fares AUH-LAX then it may possibly allow VA to offer a cheaper fare that way if their own metal is heavily booked BNE/SYD/MEL - LAX direct.

I saw the same ad when I wasn't logged in on my work computer. Sadly it's a mistake as I was thinking it'd be a rather lucrative way to boost Velocity points and SCs. If one doesn't mind flying in whY all that way that is...:shock:
