Embraer E-Jets

What is your opinion of Virgin Australia's Embraer E-Jets?

I recently did Adel-Perth return on an E-190 and think is is much more comfortable than the 737's of either Qantas or Virgin.
It's only 4 seats across, 2 either side, and each seat is a noticeably wider than other domestic economy seats in Australia. The cabin also felt more spacious.

So now I am interested in what others think

Also, Is Virgin replacing the older leased 737-700 aircraft with the E-190 as it appears?

Yep - definitely prefer the E-Jets for all said reasons Would try to get one over a 737 if I had the choice.

Did you know you could tell a plane was an Embraer even if only the tail was poking out of a hangar? You merely look at the Auxiliary Power Unit :mrgreen:

Back on topic: I find them more comfortable - but inexplicably feel more open to the elements on a smaller plane and therefore prefer to see a larger bird at the boarding gate...

I find the seats in the E-jets softer and more comfy than the 737s and so prefer the E-jets. The 2-2 seating config is also nicer. I might have a different opinion when I try one of them refurbed 737s.

I do prefer the Ejet to the 737. The last flight to OOL is usually an Ejet, so I prefer to stay longer and take that. Mostly business pax use them, so they are nice and quiet, the 2x2 config is much nicer. Not to mention the wider isles and bigger galley.

Will be interesting to see what the business class is going to look like for the EJet.

...and yes I would <3 DJ if they put in a 2x1 J arrangement like some airlines have in their Jungle Jets.

Maybe along the lines of American Eagle with the CRJs. Y is 2-2 and J(F) is 1-2.

The 190s are staying, the ATR turboprops are replacing just the E170s

I don't know, the metroliners I've taken have been tater comfortable to sit in. Sheep skin seat covers and all that. Shame about breaking your back to get to the seat.

Air Canada also have E-jets and the J seating is 1x2 which works well.

I find the E190 seats comfier than the old 737s but I prefer the bigger plane. The new 737 sky interior seats are equal in my estimation to the 190s.

E190's tend to bounce a bit more (to me) and I also think they struggle a bit more with pressure equalisation. But hey, that might be just me!

No, its not just you, they are designed like that.

I love a bit of turbulance, gives me a chance to look around pretending to be worried... "Woah, the wing isn't meant to bend that much"

I love making nervous flyers feel welcome... :mrgreen:

C/J on AC's E-jets is quite comfortable with that 1-2 config... the pitch is nothing to write home about however...
