Qantas launches domestic 747 flights

The airline is also increasing the number of wide-body, internationally configured Airbus A330s on coast-to-coast flights. In April it added three A330 flights on the Melbourne-Perth route. An A330 will also replace a daily Boeing 767 flight from Brisbane to Perth.
More than 90 per cent of Qantas services between the Australian east coast and Perth will now be operated with wide-bodied aircraft.
The move comes in response to the recently rebranded Virgin Australia adding Airbus A330s to its Sydney-Perth route and the addition of the airline's first domestic business class seats.

Only took off late because SYD was a complete mess this morning due to weather. There were at least 5 aircraft lined up on the international side waiting, as we landed at about 8:50. Plus whatever from domestic

Ahhh, I noticed there was a film crew of some kind down around Gate 10 (where QF581 normally departs from). I presume this was the reason?

I'll say. My normally-fairly-reliable QF510 SYD-BNE finally boarded at about 9:15am, about an hour late.
