This has now become my preferred hotel in BKK after our first visit. We arrived on mothers day so treated Mrsdrron to a limo transfer.Started the check in process in car.As we turned into Sukhumvit the driver called the hotel.waiting for us were 2 porters and an asst.Manager who escorted us to our upgrade-a grande deluxe suite.Checkin formalities completed in room as the Asst manager called the butler to bring us some tea, unpack and take 6 items for complementary laundering. Also as part of our benefits-free in room internet, free drinks in any of the 3 bars 6pm-8pm,free breakfast in the restaurant-this was an absolutely fabulous buffet with touches such as peeling your mango as you wanted it.
On top of all this there was 30% of food in their restaurants. Both nights we were here we went to Basil their thai restaurant-absolutely fantastic. The soft shell crab was the best we had ever had so we had 3 serves the second night.Duck with Tamarind sauce was excellent.First night 3 appetisers,2 mains-B1500.On the second night the staff remembered us by name.7 appetisers-B1200.
Mrsdrron christened our suite the Overture suite-room 1812.It was a combination of a deluxe and grande deluxe rooms so 2 full bathrooms-

So fantastic status recognition, great service, fantastic food and so convenient being right at a BTS station. We have already booked our next 2 stays.

This hotel has excellent Platinum recognition and really do go above and beyond what they require per the SPG program.

Just to add what drron has already outlined that are given for Platinums, you can also choose to have your breakfast (again buffet) on the 3rd floor adjacent to the pool area. The breakfast range is not as extensive as the amazing range offered in the main restaurant but the outdoor setting clearly makes up for it.

The standout feature of this hotel is the pool and gosh it makes me (or anyone) feel like I'm a thousand miles from the City!! (Add in 6-8pm happy hour by the poolside - now that's sa-weeet!!!)

My family used to stay here often, before we even had any status and they were always very good to us, being frequent but not being of status.

It's a great hotel.

Unbelievable! I was standing just a metre from where you were drron ;) Here is my photo:-

Have just completed another 8 nights here since the beginning of November. It just keeps getting better.Once again on our 2 night stay at the beginning of the month upgraded to a Grande deluxe suite on 24th floor.Coming back for a 6 night stay an apology was made that a suite was unavailable-the hotel certainly appeared full.We were still upgraded to a Grande deluxe room on the 30th floor and at this level you can see the Chao Praya river. So the second night when they offered a suite on 22nd floor we declined.
We had booked consectutive Z3R bookings-3rd night is free(for some reason a Z6R was not available).Total cost-$A155 a night. After our first 3 nights a stay and 3 nights were credited to my SPG account. Also for that 4th night they virtually pleaded with us to take a suite upgrade-this time on 26th floor-again a view of the river so we took it.
During this time the finance manager sought us out to get our views on their proposed room renovations next year. Then on the last night the director of training came to see us as the staff had reported us as "nice" guests! It turned out she also advised on training at the LM Angkor where you may recall we were overwhelmed by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff-we ended up congratulating her.
Some examples-when we arrive in the living room we are greeted and virtually as soon as we are seated 2 glasses of Sav Blanc are before us.At 8pm as happy hour ends 2 new full glasses are placed in front of us.The same now happens at breakfast-at the egg station the fellow sees me coming and says "turn over" I nod and my eggs are being prepared. The waiter comes over as soon as we come back with our cooked plate of goodies and asks"cappucino now".
On top of that we now know the musicians in the living room and before and after their performance they come over and chat to us.We really feel part of the family. On our last night we went to Basil for dinner and after our order was taken 2 complimentary glasses of wine appear-not that we really needed them after 2 happy hours!
Now as my first post was done when my pictures kept disappearing on me i will again post them-

Back again.A great place to become a regular.Arrived at midnight of QF1.Again only upgraded to a Grande Deluxe room but after 2 nights to a suite.
On arrival a message from the Living Room staff looking forward to meeting us the next night.Walked in and asked if we were still drinking sav Blanc and when did we want our soft shell crab.
Doorman greets us by name.On our third night and have seen the hotel manager on the first 2 nights and tonight the GM came to talk to us(his first night back from hols). Will be viewing the mock up rooms for renovations in the next day or two and will be posting pics.

Do you use the hotel limo or book one seperately??

OK,today the GM showed us the proposed room renovations. And it was his day off.The designer is a woman from Sydney.Mrs.dr.ron was impressed with how practical the rooms are as well as the tasteful furnishings.

So to the pictures.First an 02 suite-

The walkin robe and safe.minor changes but definitely more practical.

And the main bathroom.Twin basins, more bench space and much better lighting.Oh and no green tiles.

Now the 12 suite. This has been altered and is now the sitting room from the old suite joined to the small 13 room. The old bedroom reverts to a Grande Deluxe room.Much better use of space. So the same sitting room, just reversed-

The furnishings are mainly by Jim Thompson. Some of the styles used have been picked by mrs.dr.ron for our upcoming refurbishment.Naturally she thinks the designer has impeccable taste.
I really was impressed by the practicality of the rooms. Some trendy hotels might look good but can be totally impractical.I think the proposals are a good mix of modern and classical.Probably wont suit everyone though.

Thanks for the photos drron

The new look really looks much nicer and much more modern than it presently is but still retaining alot of the Sheraton branded look - though at the end of the day is really a Luxury Collection property. Also the green tiles from yester-decade is gone which is excellent news

Any idea on time frames when renovations may commence? And expected completion dates?

Any good promo codes valid at the moment for the SGS. I'll be in BKK for up to 4 nights in the next few weeks.

If definite 4 nights try the Z4R code for promotions. They are now loaded until October.Usually a decent discount but prepaid.

Thanks drron. That works out at 4500++ per night. I can get the same rate using SPG50 for a Grande Deluxe so that seems to way to go.

Well we are back at the SGS.We will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary here so being one of the last old romantics the last 3 nights here including our anniversary I booked the Rachada suite on a Z3R rate. The first 3 nights I booked a basic room again on a Z3R rate.On arrival we were upgraded to the suite for our whole stay.Well done SGS.
It was pure gold.We were escorted to the lift on arrival to check in in our room. You should have seen mrsdrron's look when floor 10 was pressed.I knew what it meant immediately but mrsdrron was obviously concerned that we weren't on a higher floor. The look changed as we walked in the room.
