Just heard from a neighbour and now on the news that Anna Bligh's plane was struck by lightning while touring flood ravaged QLD, but managed to land safely in BNE. Has this been noted elsewhere?

I'm on my iPhone so can't link to an article, sorry.

Evan Mother Nature doesn't like Anna Blight ;)

King Air, carrying Premier Anna Bligh and Major General Mick Slater, struck by lightning | Courier Mail

The bolt of lightning hit the twin engined turbo prop airplane about 2.10pm, when Ms Bligh and Maj-Gen Slater were returning from a tour of flood-ravaged Theodore.

A Government spokesman said there was a loud bang and a flash of white light through the plane.

The wing tips and tail of the aircraft were scorched, but the plane landed without incident at 2.35pm at Brisbane airport.

Geez, she can't even have a proper plane crash. Add that to the list of half-rsed efforts from her administration.

Depoliticizing this issue, these guys have had enough really. These floods are devastating for the communities especially those that make their livelihood from the land.

+1 from me,The Queenslanders gave enormous support to Victorians during the tragic black Saturday bushfires and the aftermath, now I think it's important that we repay the favour.
My thoughts are with anyone affected.

What we really need is people like you to put your hand up and get elected. I'm sure you'd do a much better job.

Well, at least I can add up. That's a 100% improvement over the work-experience kid they have in the treasurer's office at the moment.

That's exactly what I mean. I just don't know how such fools get elected when there are so many smarter people around. Maybe it's just a cough job.

I can't think of anyone with half a brain who would want to touch Queensland politics with a 50m barge pole. So we are stuck with the crop of idiots we have now.

Compared to the corrupt mob in the past it can't be that bad. I second the suggestion that you put your hand up at the next election. That's the only way to make it change.

I agree completely.

For everyone else, maybe this is one that should stay on topic :!:

I did wonder if it was the same King Air that Joh used to fly. Still remember the outrage at Joh actually piloting the aircraft himself.

Have been quite a few lightening strikes in QLD of late but whatever do don't try to divert to Oakey. A Dash8 got a strike out of TWB then wanted to land at Oakey but the Army refused. Weather turned really ugly into BNE with 30 aircraft needed to land so they had to land in Oakey.

Army wouldn't let them have any fuel either so they had to make do with bare minimum. Maybe they were too busy reading their Zoo Weekly mag.
