I've been looking at flights from BKK-ADL and in the past have booked QF81 out of Sydney, so that I don't have the hassle of clearing customs and re-checking luggage in SYD.

Has that leg been quashed by Qantas (I last flew QF81 in Aug 2010)? I can see every other possible *domestic* connection, but alas, not QF81.

Another one bites the dust??

Still operates on Tuesdays.

When are you trying to book? It still runs, but only on certain days (And I think this changes season to season)

Still operates on Tuesdays.

That's what I thought - as I booked that flight in August, but I've checked various months and it *never* seems to show up any more.

I called Qantas about it, and was told it wasn't operating, so maybe it's the seasonal thing for this time of year?

Guess I'll need to re-check dates again, and see if I get lucky.

Thanks guys!

Just checked and no QF81 flight listed as a connection from QF2 or BA9.
QF739 & QF741 or J*762/QF5762.

Interesting.

I've been looking been looking at ADL -SIN connecting in SYD and IME they don't offer either QF81 or 82 as connection options*. I could only get the flights to show using a multi-city booking.

* yes I know these flights go to SIN but I wanted them when going in the opposite direction. e.g. 82 to get to SYD in the way to SIN and vv

I've wanted to do the ADL-SYD route as well, so that I can check-in in ADL instead of the usual bus-ride and rush to clear customs in SYD.

In which case I would leave on a Sunday ADL-SYD-BKK and fly back from BKK on a Monday (landing Tuesday) and transferring to QF81.

Seems that little gem of a route is Qantas' best kept secret when booking flights online. . . . . :p

From 20 December QF081 SYD-ADL is operated on a Tuesday and QF082 ADL-SYD is operated on a Monday.

The reason QF081 SYD-ADL does not appear as a connection on a BKK-ADL booking is that QF002 arrives at 06:25am and BA009 arrives at 6:10am while QF081 departs SYD at 11:05am and there are 2 earlier QF flights and a JQ flight (2 if you count the QF codeshare) to ADL.

When we go to the winter timetable QF081 SYD-ADL appears as a connection on a BKK-ADL booking as QF002 arrives at 06:05am and BA009 arrives at 6:05am while QF081 departs SYD at 09:30am and there is only 1 earlier QF flight to ADL.

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, but just checking if anyone knows the story with QF81 (SYD-ADL)? I was booked on it early August after a QF12 from LAX, but noticed just then that I've been moved to a regular old domestic flight from T3.

Had a quick look and I can't see QF81 anywhere from SYD-ADL anymore. Moving to Sydney in a couple of months from London and was looking forward to using the F lounge for my regular SYD-ADL flights...

According to the current QF timetable, QF81 still operates on Tuesdays SYD 0930 ADL 1115.

QF82 is listed as Mondays only from 6 June, ADL 0750 SYD 1015.

Both flights are bookable online (I only checked QF82 6/6, QF81 7/6).

I'm on QF81 on the 7th - my favourite connection from SYD-ADL, as it leaves the hassle of clearing customs etc until I get into ADL, meaning more time in the lounge!!!

So it looks like it alive and well, just not on 9/8, which is when I wanted it :(

My brother in SYD who is SG told me that to upgrade on points SYD/SIN costs 40,000 points but ex ADL it's only 22,000 so he buys a cheap Red-e-Deal SYD/ADL on QF81 & travels whY but does another booking in whY on an upgradeable fare ADL/SIN & uses his points to upgrade on that sector.

He is through checked in SYD all the way to SIN so has no hassles with checking in again in ADL.

JASA ADL-SYD-SIN is 50K + $300, as a SG you earn 10400 pts and 180SC which means its the same cost as an UPG ex SYD in terms of points, of course you have the $$$ amount and you need to get to ADL!
