For years I've resisted personal reward credit cards (I have a corporate diners through work) and stuck to a low fee, low interest Visa.
I'm weighing up some of the current options and offers though and am tempted....
I feel that our personal spend is just on the border of getting real value from a rewards card. What would really make it worthwhile would to somehow make our mortgage payments on a credit or charge card, but I'm not sure if this is can be done or how. Does anyone have a system for putting the mortgage though a card and earning points?

In for the update

I did this when I was renting but not for the mortgage...

I have no idea how you would achieve this as it will be a cash advance and as such no points will be earnt.

However if you want points on your home loan and you live in the NT you can go here Frequent Flyer - Earning Points - Finance, Business & Real Estate - Mortgages for the details.

Macquarie used to be a partner but it would appear that it has disappeared.

I am almost tempted to use Rental Rewards though but don't quite feel that 681 QFF points is worth $9.50 or at least I do not want to purchase the QFF points for that cost considering where the QFF points will be used.

John,

I actually went to the site to get the link for Macquarie as I was tempted to go with them a couple of years ago but found they were not there.

I have what was termed a "Macquarie Qantas Flyer" mortgage, where you get one point per dollar on your mortgage repayments.

I say "was termed" because QF and Macquarie closed it down to new applicants a year or so back. It still continues for those of us who got on board when the window was open, but is not available to new entrants.

Haven't heard of any similar schemes. :(
