Honeymoon Locations?

I would have said Ha Long bay, but now having just returned from a 2 week stint in Ha Noi, forget it. Having to pass through Ha Noi would ruin the experience!

If I was doing it again, I would be heading somewhere like Austrian Alps in summer, Mount Cook National Park in New Zealand or even some secluded getaway in the Otway National Park in Vic!

Most Asian cities for me would be too busy for a honeymoon, OK for a shopping holiday, but lets face it, you want to get exhausted in ways other than being continuously harassed by street sellers! ;)

my 10c worth...

Currently looking into honeymoon locations myself for 2012. We're thinking of doing a mix between island destinations (Langkawi, Maldives) and sight-seeing holidays (probably European cities we haven't visited before, or maybe South America), with a final stopover in NYC because we love NYC. :)

I'm currently in Langkawi (just for a weekend) and it's fantastic - definitely worthy as a honeymoon destination. Great good, friendly people, plenty to do (or if you'd prefer - do nothing :)), and the Westin is stunning. Just wish my fiancee was here too (here on a work trip)!

Cheers,
- Febs.

Had my honeymoon in Langkawi at what is now the Westin, at a SPG Plat scored what still is an awesome room, it was a massive suite with private balcony etc. We did HKG and SIN as well to make sure we did not get too relaxed :D.

Quite often you’ll watch those travel shows (Getaway springs to mind) and they’ll show off island getaways as discussed above, and basically suites that look so tranquil and romantic. Most can be quite close to Australia too.

If you have decent budget, go to stay at Overwater bungalow of hotels at Moorea or Bora Bora at French Polynesia. Their currency XPF is tied to Euro, and with Euro dropping, they are now more affordable (still expensive though).

Unless you use PC points, food costs still are not great, $200-$300 for dinner is the norm.

Well the OP is a keen gambler, so it will either be a very plush or a budget affair!!!

I believe IHG have a property there as well, it will set you back at least $1k per night.

has anyone considered Iceland.

It was the most expensive place on earth but now they are broke, it would be the time to go me thinks.

Good deals out of the UK at present.

The northern lights????

IHG have two properties, and average is $400 a night for a OW bungalow, reward nights are much cheaper.

Scored the same! With the dining room, wraparound balcony overlooking the sea, big TV room and big bathroom with freestanding bath etc..? Amazing upgrade!

Wynns casino in Macau. Use your China Gold Card for an U/G ;)
Seriously? A casino in the middle of a place known only for its casinos? If my newlywed took me there, I'd get an annulment straight away!

If you budget is minimal, I'll have some suggestions! If it's anything but, others will have better ideas!

Rent an apartment for a week in Paris. It's not expensive and you have all the comforts of home. I rented one a few months ago and didn't want to leave.

You'll be in the good books for years.

If you're looking to lock yourselves away from society for your honeymoon, head to one of the resorts at Bora Bora. Bit of a pain to get there - flight to Papette, milk run to Bora Bora airport then boat to your particular resort - but a true sanctuary away from the world. Plenty of holiday activities, good food and booze, but no mobile coverage, no internet and only French cable TV. Spent 7 days there on my honeymoon - probably the only time I've ever actually had a 'holiday' in my life.
