Hi Folks,

Travelling to Berlin next September for World Home Applaince Expo.
Any advice on whether to go SAS via Copenhagen or Finnair via Helsinki
Better still any other suggestions please.

Cheers CM

It’s a shame you’re not travelling in 2012, with Air Berlin joining 1W, and they’re the only ones with a direct BKK-TXL flight, but oh well. As far as I can see you have connections from:

  • LHR T5 on BA (though I know why you’d want to avoid LHR)
  • Helsinki on Finnair
  • Madrid on Iberia
  • Budapest on Malév

All within 1W.

We are heading to Venice next June via Helsinki with Finnair. Have never flown
them before but not only did they have the best connections, Helsinki is somewhere
I always wanted to go. Have read so many Finnair reviews and decided they were
a great airline and being a member of One World just made it all that much easier
to decide. Our flights are Qantas/Hong Kong, Finnair/Helsinki, Finnair/Venice,
Alitalia from Rome to Istanbul and Finnair, Istanbul/Hong Kong via Helsinki, Cathay
Pacific to Melbourne.
All legs in J except Helsinki/Venice as they only offer Economy and Alitalia flight to
Istanbul so looking forward to a few points and Sc's.
By booking with Finnair proved to be pretty competitive pricing.:):)

Another option, qantas via Frankfurt. Train to Berlin.

Yes, very good suggestion medhead - the Inter City Express is an awesome way to see the countryside, with the added bonus of the ICE stop being at FRA.

I have travelled on the ICE a few times now, and it is a great way to travel, not to mention (unless LCC) first class is usually far cheaper than flying the same route.

You might like to check your fare class on the Alitalia flight as the QFF program was recently amended to exclude some fare classes from earning points.

Thanks for that but not really worried about that leg, will still earn quite a few points and S'cs for the other legs. Did look at flying Malev but a lot dearer and had to go via Budapest with layover so went with Alitalia, cheaper and direct flight. As I organzied this for two couples who normally don't fly J did not want to push my luck with a dearer and longer flight versus cheap and direct.:p:p
