Hello all, long time no see :)

I have a few bookings on O/W in the coming months, so I thought it is time for me to reach Silver for the first time, and try out Business class on Qantas.

Current SC's: 0
Goal: 300 by 31 Mar 2011

I am looking for help with two things here (please :p):

Someone to check that the following O/W trips really add up to 155 SC's:

BNE-SYD-BNE-SYD...LGA-ORD-LHR-PRG-LHR-RDU-LGA...SYD-BNE.

Second, given the above is fine, I would need 145 SC's to reach Silver. What are the best/cheapest ways going about this? SYD-CBR in J several times? Any ideas ex BNE? Looking for any (creative) suggestions. :) Anything ex NYC between 28/12 and 6/1 would do fine too.

Thanks for your help. :)

Also, is JQ still doing starclass domestic? That might be a cheap way to go!?

How many points do you have, for instance a JASA ex TSV to ADL and back will soon sort you out, if you are really keen?

Currently have 40k points, but looking to save those up. Why do you say TSV-ADL on a JASA in particular? Thanks :)

TSV-ADL is a good JASA as it earns 120 SC for 24k + cash and its easy to get back, TSV-BNE-DRW is the same cost but requires an overnight stay, its 140 SC for 24K + cash but getting back is costly. Another option is to get to CBR, then do CBR-SYD-HBA for 16K + cash, return back for the same, an easy 200 SC in one day for 32K + some cash.

Sounds good to me, will do a few searches! :D

Wow that's great. Even that date suits me!

I guess I would be able to chill out in QF lounges in between all the flights? Or would I not be entitled?

You are entitled to go the Business Lounge, have a drink, a snack, etc etc, or the Qantas Club if there is no business lounge. BTW you would also earn 5000 points on that trip, so its really 27K + cash.

Excellent! I will even reach Silver before my trip to the US! Will I gain any benefits with my flights on AA/BA?

Not knowing too much about benefits even on QF, I assume I would get things like exit row seating on most flights? Does it work the same on other O/W carriers? Thanks so much for your help so far today. :)

And given that I reach new status on 4/12, would I receive my Silver pack by the 27/12?

CBR-SYD-HBT return is the best value at 200 SC. If you can make the SYD-CBR leg at the start and return in the evening it's a measly 280 for approx 64k + some cash. Not bad value...

I wouldn't hold out too much hope for this, but you might occasionally be lucky...

I think those benefits are for those WP's under us... Even SG's don't get such benefits on int flights. Maybe for domestic flights exit row could be possible. As SG I have to request my travel agent to book them as you can't preselect them on the QF website.

markis10, that is an incredibly low price for that Any Seat Reward in Business above! How did you manage to find that at such a low price? I wish that I had have seen this earlier: I could have done with earning those 180 SCs myself, needing 305 by December 31 to attain Gold! Looks like I'll just stay a humble Silver for now...

Same Dilemma , Different city to start from ,

Currently need 80 SC to make it to silver , have 4 flights planned MEL-SIN-BOM return in 2011 , a few domestic (long) weekend getaways maybe in 2011.

Don't want to spend on QPub Membership , just want to take advantage of 25% extra SC as PS for my 2011 trips.

Please recommend the cheapest way to earn 80 - 120 SC before 15 March 2011 -

I did a lot of reading on the forum , just could not find any good ( Cheap Routes ) out of YMML.

Also tried JASA ( Currently 34000 pts in the back ) , not a lot to play with.

Thank you all ,
Happy Contrails.

The CBR-SYD-HBA JASA will earn you 100scs for 16000 points + cash.

Thanks markis10 ,

I looked up JASA MEL - CBR - SYD - HBA - MEL --- coming to 72,000 points + $254.

Does this sound right or " I actually doubt my JASA booking method."

Please Help ,
Happy Contrails

Book the MEL CBR and HBA Mel flights as red e deals and just book the JASA as CBR SYD HBA, there should be a QF flight that leaves 40 minutes after your HBA arrival, book that and don't worry about using it because of the tight connection, as it's your ex SYD plane that operates that flight.
