Don't forget if you're flying tomorrow to wind your clocks forward! (for those of you in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne ; don't know about the rest!)

Daylight Saving in Victoria (Victoria Online)

Victoria's period of daylight saving will start at 2:00am on Sunday 3 October 2010. At 2:00am move clocks forward one hour to 3:00am.

Victoria's period of daylight saving will end on Sunday 3 April 2011. At 3:00am move clocks backward one hour to 2:00am.

A good reminder thanks Flashware.

I have not seen much about it this year.

It's telling really when someone living in London ends up being the person to let everyone else know, isn't it!
It did get about 10 seconds on the news tonight.

I have to pick someone up at 0830 in the morning so I gave them a ring to ensure they knew.

And Canberra, too. Not Queens Land though.

Yes the crucial part of daylight savings is the beginning when clocks go forward and pax don't always remember to wind clocks and watches forward.

Therein lies the opportunity to missed flights, particularly as Victorians today may have been distracted by a certain footy game!

I hope there aren't too many people clutching itineraries for the correct DST departure time of 0045 but arrive at the airport at 0045 because "the taxi driver told me that the flight goes at 0145"!

Very good point!

Well it starts at 0200 anyway, but for the next day, there could be problems :p

What a complicated world we live in!

That's what she is saying though. Some people may think it applies from midnight rather than 2am, and thus arrive at the wrong time

Of course from MCY my flight just leaves an hour earlier.Takes a lot longer to get to MEL though!:p;)

Going to a meeting in Sydney now means going from PER at 5.45 so that means a 4 am wake up.

Flashware does that mean you are really close to a London airport?
Are you loving London?
Daylight saving on a non uniform basis across Oz is a pain.
We get the public calling Perth from about 5.30 am because they missed a lot in their schooling and dont have a clue about time zones.

Tasmania as well. Not NT or WA

Therein lies the problem, even though the NT doesn't have daylight saving per se, the flights ex DRW to some destinations still depart earlier so as to arrive at the same time down south.

It's often the regular travellers that are caught out as they're so used to catching the same flight at the same time they don't actually look at their itinerary to notice the new (earlier) departure time.

As the FA once famously said "Welcome to Perth. Remember to set you watches back 50 years" :D

Must admit I used to really enjoy DS when living in Sydney but I really don't see the need for it in WA as our timezone is centred in Kalgoorlie so we get almost an hour worth of DS year round.

An extra hour of 35 degree heat wth a howling Freo doctor isn't really worth it. Summer mornings in Perth are way better than the afternoons IMO. This way I get to keep my early 9 hole round of golf for approx 5 months! :D
