Wife and I are QF platinum members flying on QF 315 Abu Dhabi/ Melbourne. QF has told us there are no privileges to any lounge. Has any member/s been given lounge access upon check in, and has there any other Platinum benefits been afforded? Thanks:?:

Hi Polly1

I assume you are flying in economy? For a start you have access to the business class lounge by virtue of your Platinum status (which has any time access to international business lounges). You wont get any other platinum benefits when you check in with Ethiad (apart from the points earning etc).

What you might be able to do is try to access the F lounge as you are on a QF flight number - it can't hurt to try and you have to walk past the entrance anyway to get to the Biz lounge.

Thanks Simon, however QF have told me we do not have access to any lounge even as as Platinum status members, yes we are Y class comming home via Asia and Russia via theTrans Siberian Railway.

I'm guessing this may be because there are no OW lounges in Abu Dhabi.

BA & RJ use third party lounges.

Sorry my mistake - I was thinking ex-Aus flights.

Any chance you have an Amex Platinum Charge card and associated Priority Pass?

Simon, no we do not, might have to pay for use of a corporate lounge, otherwise go straight to the departure gate

Even if there was a OneWorld lounge, QF Platinum status does not get access unless on a OneWorld Marketed and Operated flight. The QF codeshare is not a OneWorld operated flight so no OneWorld lounge access rights exist. QF Platinum would only get access to a Qantas lounge and since there is no Qantas lounge in Abu Dhabi, the passengers will not be granted any lounge access at departure.

Isn't Etihad the airline that Virgin BLue has just done a deal with?

I think that Qantas are quite angry with them over this so wouldn't want to be encouraging their passengers to fly with them.

I imagine the QF code shares will be coming to an end very shortly.

Yes the QF code shares are coming to an end soon. Sometime between November and early next year iirc.

Can't see that QF have anything to be angry about. If I understand the news reporting correctly etihad have been trying for a long time to expand their relationship with qantas only to be rejected. They only have themselves to blame.

The code share agreement expires on the 29th Nov.
