Drivers in Moscow face traffic delays as long as 2.5 hours, while in Melbourne the average delay is only 30 minutes, according to IBM’s 2010 Commuter Pain Survey.

The global survey covered 20 major cities around the world. Melbourne was the only Australian city included.

Melbourne’s average 30 minute traffic delay was the lowest of all cities surveyed.

The average delay across all cities was one hour.

Something to keep in mind when getting a taxi during peak times in some cities.

... and why should they include Sydney rather than Melbourne :?:

Contrary to some peoples beliefs Sydney is not the centre of the universe :!: ;)

But surely they should include Australias biggest city.

What they don't detail is that 15 of that 30 minute peak hour delay is totally avoidable - that's the frustrating part!

My solution to Sydney traffic hassles - ride a motorbike!

I travel from the Northern Beaches to the SouthWest everyday and to beat the traffic I leave home at 5am, 45 minutes to work, if I leave at 7am it can take an hour and a half to get to work.

As to riding a motorbike, have you seen how people in Sydney drive:shock:, no thanks. OK for fun on the weekends but not in peakhour.
