Hi
I have just booked a ticket for my father and I from Auckland to Sydney on Aerolineas Argentinas next March. The only reason I am flying them is that I want to fly on an A340-200.

Anyway, We got our confirmation of reservation and now are trying to pay for our tickets online.

and it is asking for our passport info. I have a passport, but my father has just applied for one.

Do Aerolineas Argentinas require passport info or is there another way I can pay for my ticket.

With other airlines I've had success in the past not putting the info in and then either calling it through later, or just showing at check-in.

Yes, Well on the way to Auckland I am going Air New Zealand and I did not need to put it in?

Different airlines have different policies and procedures... YMMV as always. I'd suggest a phonecall or e-mail to the airline to ask.

Did you consider LAN Chile by any chance? They also operate A340s (albeit the -300) SYD-AKL-SCL. I previously travelled with them to AKL last year and did not have to provide passport details.

Their service and hard product from reports is streets ahead of AA too.

Hi Oliver,

I'm just curious - why the A340-200?

EK fly the A380 on that route as well.
I think it may be down to the fact that the A342 is a rare bird, and that the A380 will be around for a bit longer than the A342.

Don't quote me on this but SA do fly an A342 to PER from time to time, but that may have changed back to the A346 again.

No way you'd pay me enough to fly with them again

But if you're sold on it, you can always try putting in a fake passport number - I've had to do that on occassion while waiting for people to apply for their passport. Never had a problem (though I can see there are potential dramas!)

Thanks, Guys. I have booked with them.

Now arriving AKL-SYD (AR1182) (11:15).
Then going SYD-MEL (JQ35) departing at 15:15.

So I have a four hour lay over in Sydney. Is four hours enough? JQ35 is departing from the International terminal.

look at SAA JNB-PER-JNB at certain times.

The 200 is the most unimpressive A340 and I believe only 28 were made. Someone will no doubt correct me here.

I am interested in your interest in this piece of most uncommercial equipment!!!!

The reason is, I am only 16 years and have had little international flying experience, I have flown on most of the domestic products, B734. B737, B738, B763, A320, A321, A332, Q300, Q400, E170, E190.

But with International aircraft I have only flown on a B744 and A333.

The A342 will be retired very soon, While the A345s and A346s still have another decade in them.

I am trying to fly on, as many different variants of aircraft as possible and as my family is going to Auckland in November, I thought I would much rather go on the A342, than the usual trans-tasman equipment (A345s, A388s, B77Ws)

Well FWIW, Air New Zealand have about 15 737-300s in their fleet. Might be worth your while looking up the routes that they fly. Air New Zealand was the final airline to purchase those aircraft back in 1999.

Our flight to back to Sydney leaves Auckland at 09:25, What time does Check In close and what time should we arrive at the AIrport?
