Company rejects flight disruption claims

Posted 1 hour 23 minutes ago

The company that provides fuel to airlines at Sydney Airport has rejected claims that flights will be disrupted by a union strike next week.
Members of the Transport Workers Union are planning to walk off the job on Wednesday, arguing casual colleagues are being offered less money to do the same job.
The union says Australian Fuel Services has threatened to lock out employees for a week if they strike.
But the company's Felicity Wilson says the claims are untrue.
"It's concerning that they keep pushing that message," she said.
"What we've done continuously is to proactively negotiate with employees to try and get a positive outcome to this enterprise agreement that is best for them, for the company and for our customers."
The claims the strike will affect Qantas and Jetstar customers but Australian Fuel Services is confident it can manage the impact.

Syd airport website lists company name as "Airport Fuel Services" not Australian.

Note the listed email address for the company is @Caltex.com.au so I'd say this company is either a subsiduary or licencee of Caltex.

So Virgin Blue, Tiger and all other international carriers are not affected?

So Virgin Blue, Tiger and all other international carriers are not affected?

That does seem a little odd, then again I know nothing of fuel services at airports.

Is it the case that there’s more than one operator at each airport and just like a car, you pull up to the cheapest vendor? :p
