In honour of the "Gross" thread, thought we should have one for Nice things too.

This should be for things other pax have done, not crew.

Fire away........

Get the luggage down for the window seated pax in a 737 from the overhead locker.

The very nice couple on a LHR-SYD flight many years ago who purchased the QF teddy for my young son after they overheard me tell him I couldn't afford to buy it.
They also did it very nicely - "thought we would get you this for being so well behaved on the flight"

Wow, that's a great effort.

Does this count ?

Let Mrs Wtolmie take my opup J seat on a hkg - syd leg while I took care of my very good travelling 3yr old princess???? Hehe.

Shifting seats to accommodate other passengers.
Aisle passengers handing the middle/window seat trays to the FA.
Passengers offering unwanted (unopened) food to other pax (eg the mini toblerone etc).
Not rocking on seats when getting in and out of Economy.
Guesting lounge access.

I usually select a window seat and very frequently fellow passengers get my luggage down from the lockers, and quite often when getting up to let me into the window seat they put the luggage up into the locker as well :) Very kind of them.

Stories like this make travelling in crush class a lot more bearable. . . . . :D

Bathe before sitting next to me - I find that to be one of the nicest things people can do for me on a flight. :p

I am really struggling to think of anything nice anyone has done for me on a flight. Nope can't think of anything.

- Helping people in middle seats and window seats with the carry on from the overhead bin
- Allow people in the middle seat full use of the armrest
- Distract (play games) small children/babies so their parents can have a rest

Helped a women look after her two kids (3 & 5 from memory) on a MEL-PER 6am flight.

They were good kids, just needed a little help, a watchful eye when she needed to go to the ladies, and more than happy to lift up the arm rest and help the youngest one take a bit of a snooze. I wasn't going to be sleeping as I'd be in to work as soon as we landed.

We ended up at an outlying gate, so a quick pickup of the 3yr old to get him to the front of the cabin while holding his hand as he wanted to climb down the stairs.

Sadly, it was the same flight where a container of Max Brenner chocolate powder fell out of a bag I had in the overhead, and where the PER baggage team must have been on an 8:30 smoko break knowing full well I had to rush to a 9am training course I was running.

Karma never pays up when you need it to sometimes :)

I think that qualifies you as a good candidate for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.

I once gave up seat 2A for seat 2K on a UA flight because the passenger who was allocated 2K had a compulsion to sit only in "A" seats. She was making such a scene that I felt embarrassed for her and felt compelled to act, if only to shut her up.

On a less bizarre note, I entertained an adorable 9 month-old for a couple of hours on an LX flight from ZRH whilst his mother, who was flying to NYC to meet his father, had lunch and a nap. He was an absolutely lovely little fellow, and quickly melted my otherwise cold, black heart. I was tempted not to relinquish him at all, until his mother reminded me of dirty nappies, school musicals, and the horrors of living with an adolescent.

I use this method whenever mrs ejb talks of her desire for children. Take them to the family members with young children and one or two dirty nappies later my life remains child free for a little longer.:D

As to NYCguy taking care of a child:shock::D, what next, flying Y.

Things that I have done and generally do without thinking much of it.
  • Guest a WHY seatmate that I don't know into the lounge at the SIN/BKK transit on the way to Europe. I have done this a few times.
  • Get luggage down for other pax, particularly for ladies.
  • Keep my mouth shut.
  • Clean the toilet if its messy, I wish most pax would do this, if you miss the bowl, wipe it up. Nobody like to stand/sit in someone elses waste.
  • Shift seats to suit other pax that have not been seated together.
  • Keep in my space and not intrude into others.

Well I give the F/A's/CSM a box of chocolates EVERY time I board an aircraft.

I will always assist someone with retrieving their luggage.

I also will clean the sink in the bathroom both in the lounge and the aircraft.

If travelling alone I wander to the gate and look for someone to guest in the lounge.
(I did this once and the lady was heading to AKL via MEL on her way home from Bolivia. We entered the Int J Lounge together and she took the opportunity to take a shower. When we were about to board the plane they took her BP and gave her a new one so we could sit together in J. She was so grateful that she gave me a bottle of Scotch on arrival into AKL)

I am also very polite to my fellow pax and F/As/CSM...and amazingly.... I have NEVER had a terrible experience in terms of customer service.

But you were given a meal with nuts in it ;) or am I thinking of someone else.

That WAS me samh004.

I don't consider that a bad "customer service" experience.

The CSM and F/A's were teriffic and they did EVERYTHING they could for me. Also the reason I had the reaction was due to the catering department NOT the cabin crew.

These are all very nice things to do, please don't get me wrong.

When did society become so screwed up that these kind of actions, particularly in the confined space of an aircraft, were considered optional?
