Turkish Airlines Australian Services

I flew yesterday with Turkish Airlines from SIN to MEL in Y. The flight ran on time, was well-priced and the A350 isn't bad. But I honestly found the service a bit disappointing. The crew didn't really seem like they wanted to be there and the pre-arrival snack was pretty bad. Still, I'm grateful for the daytime option to fly TK on this route.

One of the passengers flying all the way through from IST to MEL on TK168 had a bit of a weird issue with his boarding pass. He was using a digital boarding pass in the Turkish Airlines app, and after the flight landed in Singapore, his app was showing that the flight was over and his digital boarding pass was therefore no longer available. This caused him some issues with entering the gate in Singapore because he had no valid boarding pass to show. He had to go off and get a paper boarding pass printed somewhere so that he could re-board in Singapore.
I have never been a fan of the digital boarding pass. Maybe I'm just getting old but too many things can go wrong such as phone goes flat or has some other type of failure, you get logged out of the app and can't remember the password.
Give me paper any day. YMMV

Totally. There are so many elements that can go wrong, whether technologically or in the hands of the user (my dad finds it very hard to hold his phone at the right angle, for instance).

As a one-bagger a digital boarding pass is your best friend when you have 10am checkout, lounge access and evening flight

I had a similar experience a couple of years ago on an Emirates flight from Brisbane to Singapore. I thought the crew just couldn't wait to get off the plane quick enough. Also on Etihad out of Melbourne to Dubai, it appeared it was an extreme effort for them just to do the basics. A change of crew brought a world of difference .
I flew with TK out of Melbourne earlier this year to Europe on a late night flight via Singapore ,the crew were very approachable and attentive .

I get them printed for that reason - and i have shares in paper mills....and I'm entitled so it all makes a lot of sense.

I think they use recycled paper ,sorry about the mill.

You’ll be devastated to learn that most airport-issued boarding passes are still printed on conventional coated thermal paper 100GSM to 120GSM. Recycled alternatives exist, but they are not yet universally used.

Presumably, that is why the dividends keep rolling in and I can still afford to attend AFF functions.
