Qantas unveils the biggest changes to status in program history

I easily get way more than 20k points from signup bonuses. With those no longer eligible and reduced points earning rates getting to 20k points on credit card spend will be difficult

Will the extra points for spend on QF flights via credit card count towards the 20k?

Yea it should. Indeed 20k without bonus is not trivial, especially with earn reductions and monthly points cap banks are using those days.

Maybe QF is sending a message to push on for LTG then stop worrying about status as it’s all getting too expensive to maintain.

No, QF bonus points for flights, hotels, wine will not count only the primary spend earn.

QF AMEX CCs with direct QF earn will probably be some of the better options moving forward.

I might get some from Avis and Uber, but I'm not going to change my behaviour to chase this carp. It should be a flying program, not a spending one.

You'll pay more for your goods and services chasing points and SCs 'on the ground'. No thanks.

But if you don’t need to modify your spend, then Win-Win.

VA SCs from FBs have been around for years. Not enough to get serious status but could help someone get across the line.

Those ticks I posted earlier were just from normal travel/spend to date. Previously, I’d be lucky to get one LB, and only once have I got PC+ rollover, so ~80s SC pa will soften the blow of needing 200 more SCs to retain WP…

I agree with this and what RooFlyer said will I go out my way to chase them - not really (spending $100 on top of flights for the offset on top of ticket for 10 SC 🤣). Will my normal day to day spending ticket a few of them off 100%.
The only case I can see for someone to activley chase them is if they literally just short of obtaining a particular status. Even if you did get all 140 on the ground you would still 160 more and plus have taken 4 QF flights anyway
