SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Has anyone booked SQ J, either paid or points redemption, out of WSI yet? We've decided to fly our family of 4 in Business on points but only WSI departures are available. I'll probably transfer 800,000 velocity to krisflyer today but just wondering if anyone has had any hiccups booking flights out of the new Sydney airport on SQ website
Yes, see a few posts up. I booked 3 x J without issue.

Yes I did book SIN to WSI. But have since cancelled that redemption and flying Turkish in Y and then connecting SYD-MEL on VA in J (pretty much same price in J, than Y and paying for all our luggage)

I cancelled the SIN-WSI on SQ as it was too many points, even on Saver when compared to using them on a EU-SIN-MEL single booking.

Also didn't want to stuff around from WSI to SYD

Thanks @lovestotravel
I just went to book it and I just learned that I can't book it until I have a passport number for the youngest, which I've yet to receive. It appears SQ doesn't make it easy for you book a redemption with family members. Have to add "nominees"

Just put a dummy passport number and book it. You can change to real passport number later or on checking in :)

Exactly this and what I was gonna suggest!

They’ll swipe the passport at check-in, and that’s the time the relevant information is transmitted to the arrival authorities.

Just find an old passport number for now :)

Now to figure how to spend the awkward 18 hours from 6am to 11:55pm. Better find a room for the kiddos to crash out
Well done!

Hilton - for example the garden inn - has day use rooms for SGD180, 10am to 6pm. You could arrive, have breakfast in the lounge, then go to the hotel.

Or get a property from the night before, and mention a super-late check-in. Then lots of stuff to do in the afternoon.

A very expensive option these days is the transit hotel airside at Changi… stay there for several hours on arrival, then take one of the singapore free tours from the airport to fill in the afternoon.

I looked at the Changi Crowne Plaza as we stayed there last time, and the price has increased by 70%, so that's not interesting. Great tip on the day room. This thread is living up to it's title

I had a nice response from Dorsett Changi (which is landside airport - clear immigration) for day rooms. They move to their own booking platform next year but currently via this 3rd party site.

Another Dusit Thani has day rooms and complimentary shuttle to Changi. - dusit.com - [email protected]
