I applied for a metal credit card. Bizarrely, they made me pay a subscription fee to find out whether they could offer me a credit card. They couldn't - and said they don't do credit cards in Australia. Now having a terrible time trying to get my money back. They say they are being generous in not charging me for two more monthly credit card fees that I have apparently signed up for. This is either a scam or it's incompetence. At the moment I'm leaning towards a scam of charging people for services they have no intention of providing.

Not my experience at all. I have the Ultra Plan. Applied for the credit card on an aeroplane on the way up to Asia. Pretty much the whole process completed & approved by the time I got to Hong Kong

My wife is on the basic freebie plan; she applied for the card and was knocked back as part of the normal assessment process (which was fair enough really, given the way our finances are structured and our Revolut accounts are individual)

There was no suggestion or request for her to subscribe to a Plan. Everything seemed pretty bank-like and above board in her case & mine

Saw that Revolut is now offering 10x points on Emirates bookings. Could be a decent way to earn a nice stack of points for someone already looking to purchase tickets.

So was your credit card approved before you had to pay a fee? I had to pay first before I could apply. I have never experienced that before. Then they offered me a useless $2,000 limit. Then when I complained they told me they don’t offer credit cards at all in Australia and challenged me to find anything saying they did - so I sent them a link to their website advertising credit cards.

I was already on the Ultra Plan, so paying a fee for the Plan subscription. But the application & card were both at no extra charge

My wife is on the free Plan. She also went through the application process through to rejection without having to pay a fee of any kind or having to sign-up to any kind of subscription plan.

In both cases we did it via the Revolut App
