Then the problem is platinum, one of these numbers is wrong. 60 years of Platinum for LTP can't possibly be right. 75k feels right for LT P1. Not LTP based on the current numbers.

I’d be in agreement with that.
QF is reliant on the promos but don’t want them to end in permanent platinum status.

My anniversary is March 31, have been sitting on 1316 SC's since my last trip in early August and haven't received any acknowledgement of retention. when i click on my digital card is still says 'expiry March 2027'.

They won't congratulate you on retaining WP until they give up on encouraging you to chase P1.

Plus I think they get a few other unpublished perks but they are not widely reported so it’s hard to tell what they are

My situation:
I've entered my new QF year, therefore, all previous SCs wiped. As I managed to (unexpectedly) attain P1 status last year, that is the progress ring that I see.

No SC rollover.

I do see a new PC attain wheel though (my current PC and GT status expire in just under a year's time).

Shorter version: it's bullsh*t.

Longer version:
(1) it is inaccessible to almost everyone.
(2) anyone who could achieve it, could afford to continue flying in F or J and maintain WP or probably P1 indefinitely anyway.
(3) it therefore offers little - if any - incentive to anyone.
(4) those who need it have no hope, those who have hope have no need.
(5) it is unquestionably unfair, when LTG is 20 x annual gold but LTP is amost 54 x annual WP.
(6) QF knows this hence the "bankable" years of WP as a milksop to appease us.
(7) yes it has some extra perks, but why? it would be better to offer a genuine LTP at around 28,000 SCs and a genuine LTP1 at 75,000
(8) after all, 75,000 is just over 20 x annual P1, so it is the appropriate threshold for LTP1.
(9) yes QF is a business and it can make the rules, but the whole point of a loyalty program is, well, loyalty. So if your program seems horribly unfair, and the benefits seem elusive, if it generates as much angst as this issue generates, then it's not doing its job.
(10) QF is already risking this because the Classic Rewards everyone chases - premium cabins on international long haul - have become so difficult to find, and almost impossible on QF metal. Maybe availability from SYD is better but from PER it is abysmal.

But neither of these programs have the ability to get there at half of that total via promos.
Yes BA has the BA holidays promos over the last few years. But it’s nothing in comparison to what QF does with DSC.

On that logic it should be, at most, 56,000 - double 28,000.
Although I think very few if any PAX get DSCs for each and every flight.
For a start, that would mean they have never taken a non-QF OneWorld flight.
Unlikely if they travel enough to earn over 28,000 SCs.

I have LTG with just over 25,000 status credits and booked enough to re-qualify for Platinum for 2028. After that I am done chasing Platinum status with Qantas and will just book the best value business class fare for overseas travel.

If LTP was 28,000 or even 35,000 status credits then I might have kept going but 75,000 is totally unattainable for someone who is retired and self-funds all their travel.

For the vast majority of FF cardholders I suspect LTG is unattainable.

Also compare that to VA FG. I had continuous VA WP for over 10 yrs but only I’m only 1/2 way to FG because most of my flying was on partner J. I’d be a lot closer to QF LTP if all that flying went to QF…

Realistically unless you sustain your travel levels for a very, very long time most likely lifetime status is going to be a reward for spending an extended period with higher status. The hope for the airline being that you miss the benefits of higher status that you got used to and still push for that some of the time.

LTS is 10 years of SG
LTG is 10 years of WP

10 years of P1 would be 36,000, but the target is over double that, so LTP is essentially a reward for those who far exceed the minimum for P1 for an extended period without needing to think about it, possibly also with an extended period of far exceeding the minimum for WP, but not enough for P1 as well.

The cheapest way to gain "LT Plat" is just to retain Plat each year...just saying

Some are getting there as work / business pays for monthly OS trips in J or F eg to London / Nth America etc.

Others are booking all their flights using dble SCs...with tricks of the trade, they can do this anytime! Booking a maxed out Qf RTW ticket in J 2 or 3x per year will get you to LT Plat if you think it is worth your time and effort!

Although I completely understand the desire to have the words "Lifetime Platinum" written on your digital membership card. Very expensive words but understandable nonetheless.
