HKG transit - 6 hours - no status - 4 pax

Hi all,

We are transiting in HKG soon, flying Premium Economy with CX. Family of 4 with no status and no credit cards that confer lounge benefits so I'm trying to work out the best lounge option for the approx 6 hours that we have to kill.

It appears the choices are Plaza Premium or Kyra. The cost is about the same for both but Plaza allows me to book for up to 5 hours whereas Kyra is a maximum of 3 hours.

Are there other options that I have missed?

Personally i think there's enough at HKG to just relax and chill without a paid lounge.

On the arrival side I saw a complimentary showers for free (no towels although i believe purchasable). This is BEFORE transit or immigration on the arrivals level.

HKG has lots of different zones and frankly rather than paying for lounge access, buying actual food would be tastier and cheaper.

There's a lot of shopping and other experience stuff around that you can easily spend 1-2 hours on that. Good array of different seating as well. If you snag some of the day beds they're better than most lounge chairs.

I agree with the above, the lounges are nothing special anyway. The Kyra was light on food and no showers as far as I could tell, and the PP lounge had good food but very busy when I visited. I believe the Kyra is not 24/7 either.

There are some fancy airport restaurants famous enough in HK such as Duddells worth spending some time in should you choose to spend the time in the transit area.

Alternatively, depending on the age of the kids and the time of the day, it’s HK$120 for a same day return on the train to HK Central for 25 minutes each way, and you’ll get to see the city or even go up Victoria Peak. This would probably be a lot more enjoyable than being in HKIA for 6 hours.

We are staying in Hong Kong for a couple of days on the way back so not particularly keen to leave the airport for the outbound journey.

Just for reference, we spent at least 1.5h before we hit Pier First lounge just browsing, shopping and wandering (and we've been to HKG quite a few times in the last 2 years).

There was a live band rehearsing lady gaga songs when we were there using traditional chinese instruments. eSports VR zones, shops galore of all sorts.


For reference these are the lounging seats I mentioned. They're free and just around the airport. Snagging them though is another story.
