Melbourne all day check-in - international T2

So friends of mine just travelled out of Melbourne and the staff were saying that they now offer all day check-in for all international flights. Up to around 12 hours in advance.
Seems like a good enhancement.
This would be for QF only.

Great move but need QF to bring back A380 to LHR from MEL or reconsider and add Sunrise flights to the UK from MEL. All day check-in is nice but need the flights to be able to make use of it.

Not sure what the latest is but QF9 was coming back to originate in Melbourne at least prior to the airspace restrictions caused by the Iran situation. I think once A35K are around you may see that operate MEL-PER-LHR even if the planned 787-9 resumption doesn't happen

There really wasn't anything wrong using QF37 connecting to QF1 to get from MEL to LHR. It was clear with how many departures were checking in at the same time in that corner of the terminal using the same counters, that being able to process some check-ins early would alleviate some level of congestion in human cargo traffic.

The risk with MEL-PER-LHR though is that they cancel the MEL-PER leg and move people to domestic flights without access to the international lounge and if flying J no lie flat seat. The short flight to PER doesn’t make a lot of sense. Better to fly to SIN, but there’s no PE on the flights QF does from MEL-SIN.

I dont think we're going to see MEL get the A380 anymore outside of a few special circumstances. Seems they want to keep the plane closer to home running QF81 / 82 for SYD - SIN instead and with their retirement starting in 2028, we'll have fewer frames to run the existing routes.

There could be an argument for MEL - SIN instead though if it can sustain an a380 AND a 330 service.

Otherwise the turn around at SIN might be a bit long for one of the 380s to meet QF2 and QF1.
