Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

And the noise complaints have started…..the airports been earmarked since 1986….

""We're involved in refrigerated transport and drive semi-trailers, heavy vehicles, which we gotta comply with fatigue laws. At the moment I don't comply with fatigue laws," he said."

Well I hope he's not driving then.........

yep much like when i was building a motorway through suburban Sydney, which had been earmarked on street directories for decades, some residents were genuinely surprised.

Well then why don't he resign from his business and get pension, or simply move to another area to live?

If you read down to the bottom of the article a lot of the root of the complaints is around this:
In 2023 the federal government announced a free noise insulation program for eligible homes in the suburbs surrounding the airport.

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport is yet to complete a single home insulation installation in the suburbs of Luddenham, Greendale, Silverdale, Wallacia, Badgerys Creek and Kemps Creek.
I think it's fair for them to complain about the noise in their homes at night if they were promised noise insulation and it hasn't been delivered. The department had plenty of time to get it done before the airport opened.

The vast majority of the night freight flights are 146s “the whisper jet”…..wait till the 777s start taking off at midnight
