I almost wonder if the verbosity is intentional. As in a tacit acknowledgement that movie tickets are a thing but to sow doubt in punters on the fence about buying them…

But as other have said, avid cinema-goers are a tiny minority of QFFs and we’re still contributing to the bottom line, perhaps albeit at lower priced screenings than those on sale this week. That is unless our subsequent consumption of S&P Squid and champagne has a negative net effect!

The one caveat on this is that for a double feature booked with movie tickets, the first screening must be in a cinema located in Australia.
However the second screening can be anywhere,

I just want to say that anyone using movie tickets must accept that it is not without risk and nobody can guarantee its effectiveness. It's use, restrictions and limitations can change at any time. You must take a leap of faith and just hope for the best. It is not suitable for the risk averse who requires absolute certainty.

Not sure there is much more to explain.
When you redeem a voucher, the dedicated booking engine will only allow you to book an itinerary with the first flight commencing within Australia.

I am already Platinum for next year (currently 1650, so covered under the new rules), and now also Lifetime Gold. Chasing status is over for me. Now that my mother has passed, I am also not flying domestically nearly as much as in the past. Any future overseas flights I would prefer to book in business class (if the prices every come back down!), and there are better carriers that Qantas out there for food and service. My recent flights around Europe on AF, KLM and IB certainly prove that! I am liberated!

I have bought many movie vouchers and never paid a CC fee on purchase, or when I have used them to book a cinema session.

I believe @SYD was misconstruing purchasing an actual movie ticket as opposed to a movie voucher, in which case the assertion would have been accurate.

Today, I hastily booked for 4 tickets expecting to see 4 different tickets hit my inbox, instead I received 1 ticket for 4 people to the one session. I ran a dummy and the ticket was always wanting me to have 4 patrons to the same movie session. I called the box office and they were able to split it into 4 different tickets which I plan to use later in the year.

AS a data point I bought some tickets back in February. I used them to see a new release last week and it was twice as rewarding.

I have experienced this same dilemma previously and also contacted the box office to fix it. Four of myself cannot attend the same movie at the same time, regardless of whether it is a double feature or not!
