Q? re AA Booking Classes & QF SC.

Hi all - first post - so not really sure if this is a QF or AA type question.

I'm looking at booking a flight MEX-PTY (2 legs MEX-MIA, MIA-PTY) on AA. The Australian site is giving me the option of a business flexible ticket or a first flexible ticket for a couple $ more.

I know that AA operates the front cabin as business on these flights - so either way I'll be in the same seat, just wondering if I pay the $2 more for the first will this earn as F for status credits with Qantas or will I get SC for the class travelled (I)?

You'll get SCs for I class if that's the class it books in to. First flexible may be a better fare to book if it's less restrictive (in case something goes wrong); the extra $2 is almost like an insurance policy

The flights from US - Mexico are 2 class business and Economy and will earn as business class

Was the 1st class option a non non-stop service; if connecting within USA then the domestic leg would be in 1st

Surprisingly, no. Just MEX-MIA, MIA-PTY. I thought it might have been something like MEX-(DFW)-MIA (which I would always book to max. SC) but it is direct non-stop MEX-MIA.
