Strategy to obtain US Amex

Does anyone have the $95 HSBC Premier card ?

Have you had the 3x 'gas and groceries' work on Aus supermarkets and petrol stations ?
I have it and yes it does. Works at Woolworths, Coles, Harris Farm etc. Also works at all petrol stations.

Thanks. And is it 1:1 transfer to all the airline partners ?
The info on their public facing website is very sparse…
No it is not - I think I listed them out in a comment on the page before this one

Noticed Amazon US has Pokemon Go coins gift cards. Cheapest one $10USD, redeemable everywhere.

Also looks like you can't have Amex Safekey using the same email as Amex AUS, so had to update that.

For those with HSBC CCs, are you linking ITIN to them? Is there any risk to this as most here would have US mailing address and Aus residential address?

It is linked to mine.

Not sure I follow what the risk would be. BofA also has my Australian address as my residential address and my US address as my mailing address.

Just curious what cc everyone here using for groceries, gas and restaurants? I did the math idk but look like with essential 5x in aud actually get more value than US card

Assuming you can transfer them to US Membership Rewards then yes that would be mostly correct for restaurants and cafes, noting that it only applies up to 10,000 points per month.

Doesn’t appear to apply to groceries and gas though.

Always working on SUB as priorities then if not HSBC for groceries and gas. Citi Elite for Citi night, CSP for other dining if not using Restaurant GC, CIBP for travel related and Qantas marketplace, CIC for Office work.
That's my take.

I'm a big fan of HSBC's Elite card - 5x on travel and 2x on dining has worked well for me and the 1.5c/point at their travel portal is another decent option instead of points too. One thing I've realised though is their autopay setup is rubbish - it takes the full amount owing on the payment date, not the full statement amount minus any credits (as Amex and all other cards do). Means I missed out on a month's interest on about $3k this month so have switched it off and will just sort internal HSBC transfer instead!

That's not been my experience - I have autopay set up and it takes the statement balance each month, same as Amex.
