Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

The email I just received also mentions:

With the introduction of Qantas Economy Plus, we have some updates to your Platinum One seating benefits:
  • Complimentary Qantas Economy Plus: You'll now receive complimentary access to Qantas Economy Plus whenever it's available.
  • Complimentary Exta Legroom: If Qantas Economy Plus isn't available on your flight, you'll continue to enjoy complimentary access to Extra Legroom seating when available.
  • New Forward seating: Forward seating (previously Preferred seating) is now available across additional rows in Economy located in the forward half of the cabin and is complimentary on Qantas operated flights.

The press release and website also now clarify a few details, mainly;
1) Status holders eligible for complimentary economy plus receive it for themselves and up to 8 others on the booking;
2) Economy plus will board with group 2.

When they board groups 1 and 2 together (which they seem to be doing a lot of recently) it's going to be close to half the plane on some flights. I would have thought group 3 would make more sense unless you have status that has you in a higher group.

I've got two 737 flights later this month. Both are selling economy plus now in rows 5 to 9.
I'm surprised that they've actually reconfigured the aircraft already..... Or are they selling it too early and it'll just be a normal economy seat.... For $85 people would be upset.

I had been looking over the last week and the layout kept changing (first they became extra legroom and then became normal seats). And I was somehow able to snag an economy plus seat as a Silver FF for free

I haven't seen many group 1+2 on flights that are super premium heavy. Although they don't wait too long after calling 1 so if you're coming from the lounge it might be that when you get to the gate it'll be both 1+2

From what I understand, they've been rolling this out very quickly. I guess it doesn't take them that long to remove a few rows and adjust the seat positions on the rails.

Would be hard to offer "priority access to overhead lockers" then I guess?

May I ask what about OneWorld Emerald and Sapphire? Will they receive Economy Plus included in fare?
I am concerned that Cathay Diamond Executive cannot get better seats on Qantas.

Try and make a dummy booking with your CX FF details and report back.

I’d assume OWE/S will get access to some preferred seating.

An 'enhancement' for SG I guess.

My wife and I (she's WP) have a CBR-MEL return trip next month. We had originally selected 11A and C on the A220. But after getting the Y+ email today she logged in to see if we could change to Y+ seats. At the change seat page were able to select the dark burgundy coloured seats for free.

But after confirming them, we went though to a payments page, which asked for $160.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Is it a glitch in the system? Or do you think we have to wait until 6 February to be able to actually do this?

Cheers,
Horatio

I wonder if it's only people who have chosen a seat that's listed as Economy Plus who will get boarding group 2, rather than everyone who ends up sitting in one of the seats. Otherwise as already mentioned, it's not really priority overhead bin access if you get there the same time as everyone else around you. Everyone who can choose the seats for free at some point is already in group 1 or 2.

Apologies if this has already been answered - every time I click on the forward seats which are displaying as $0 - it tries to charge me when I try to save the seat selection. Does anyone else have this issue?

No. Working for me (and others here).

Is this for an existing booking or a new booking?

Now that we’re inside T-80 for the first flights on the 6th I had a quick look and for WP row 4 becomes selectable but at a charge as previously reported. Not sure if will become free at check-in but as a P1 though I’m hoping not ;). Finally if the front row is just for sale to WP/OWE $100 is pretty steep for a 4 hour flight given they already get access to other extra legroom for free.

For an existing booking … trying to change seats booked last year to the new ones displaying as $0 … but when clicking to confirm a charge comes up
