I'm in the waitlist queue for some BNE/SIN/BKK J flights in March. Getting nervous. Really want to lock them in.
There is a TG availability on the KF website out of other cities. Looking at doing that.
My question is, if I book the TQ flights and the waitlist comes in, can I cancel the TQ booking and get my points back? Is there any fees for this?
I have no KF status.

Absolutely lock in the seats that are available while you can.

There is a USD75 per person fee to cancel KrisFlyer bookings. It might still be worth it in terms of the reduced carrier charges and convenience -- but that's your decision.

I wouldn’t say “never” per se, but highly unlikely is more like it.

The key thing you have to remember is PPS are the top of the food chain at SQ, not Golds, so if that’s not you then the odds go down significantly. Never the less, a few months back, I waitlisted for fun for an SQ306 Saver in J in late July for fun to try and have a crack at getting to try the new A350LH biz seat and go visit London at the same time of course.

A few weeks ago my waitlist cleared, got the email. Had to leave it though as my annual leave request was rejected (too much of the team already on annual leave I guess for their own summer euro trips then I think!).

I've got one sitting for MEL SIN CDG at saver.

Flight only has about 6 empty J seats. So doubt it will clear

Has anyone worked out the process for booking waitlisted flights but also selecting a non-preferred timing which is available?
I can have on the booking a waitlist & reserved selections but after I enter my traveler details it says to ring SQ. I won't allow me to continue the redemption.
SQ call centre don't seem to know what I'm talking about.

I haven't seen any F savers for a few months now on any route

Right now there are F Saver seats available on the MEL-SIN route for February 10, 11 and 12.

As per chat on here. SQ Award space definitely has dried up compared to a few years back plus the increased in redemption rates. And even if get J Saver the product is dated. (Although SQ soft service still my fav).

But given the above for those looking for J Awards out of Melbourne to Asia and Europe.

What's the next best option? QF or Velocity?

The "next best option" -- by far, and more than ever -- is to accumulate points in a flexible currency so you can transfer to whatever programme has availability.

If you absolutely must focus on one and only one FF programme and your aim is Business Class to Asia and Europe, I'd still probably say that KrisFlyer is the best, even given it's reduced recent availability.

There's not bad availability with Cathay, and you'll have some options with Avios as well (remember that Qatar Avios can be used for Garuda Indonesia flights).

Between Qantas and Velocity ... well, it's so easy to accumulate both QFF and Velocity points in Australia that my curent strategy is to accumulate both, simply because you can then use the points for whatever is available. I do focus more on Velocity for various reasons, the main one being that Velocity points can convert to KrisFlyer.

And don't forget SkyTeam. If you can accumulate points in a Skyteam programme (eg. Virgin Atlantic) you'll find there's less demand for reward seats than compared with the other two major programmes.

Seeing fairly good J Saver availability out of Melbourne for 2 seats for Mid Jan 2027 for following pairs:
MEL-IST
MEL-CDG
MEL-FRA
MEL-MXP
MEL-ZRH
MEL-HND
MEL-NRT

Slim pickings coming back the other way though, but some seats there if flex.

Better than I've seen in awhile, so not sure if reduced demand at this time or if SQ now releasing more seats now that new KF system has settled. Although Japan surprises me there's availability given ski season though.

If im looking for F from melb to europe using miles.
Does the above mean i from singapore only london and frankfurt have a F flight?

My only F flight was to LHR

So if i want to go to any other european city i cant go F or might as well do J

I was trying to work out flight options of where F (a380 or777) flew as redemptions (unless im wrong) in F arent possible in mixed , and its a bit of a waste as well

If you get a F redemption it's F for all flights

Quite hard to find, and you will be paying Advantage rates, so 333,000 miles each way

I'm about to book J MEL-SIN on J Saver and then SIN-AMS on F saver which I've found
