But it didn't even work for SQ?Surely CBR-SIN would be more useful, with VAs partnership with SQ to connect to the rest of the world.

Will probably just use one of the two aircraft that would sit idle overnight at CBR, only really costing an afternoon in utilisation.Definitely didn't see this one coming, but with the start date towards the end of the 25/26 financial year, I wonder if Virgin are expecting a small if not moderate fleet growth for 26/27.

Depends if there's airport, private or even territory subsidies involved for the flights, if so it'll be at least 2 seasons minimum.I'll give it 6 months before they pull the route.
They should do better compared to Batik as they will be able to funnel through a whole bunch of connections.
Batik was only doing around 30-50 people per flight.
I think TSV would have been a better opportunity or even HBA.
Wealthy people fly to Bali? But connections from where is the question isn't it? Passengers can already fly direct to Bali on numerous airlines at far less cost from SYD MEL BNE OOL ADL etc - I can't see how anyone would be interested in transiting CBR unless it was for a VA status run given that domestic airfares into and out of CBR from anywhere are often sky-high anyway. This is only going to succeed or fail because of CBR end subsidies and the actual outbound demand ex-CBR itself, which is quite a wealthy city, so its possible.

This to me is a winner...and why I was so mad at VA not executing properly their "thoughts" of PER-DPS. Onward connections at good cost. .and a couple of days in Bali on the return.Obviously DPS is pretty well connected internationally, (although International transit is still maybe a bit of a PITA?) so there might be some CBR residents who would treat this as a good way to relocate themselves to DPS for onward reasonable-priced international flights further afield.
I suspect there is such subsidies from somewhere but that didn't stop Batik from pulling services after just four months. Maybe the scheduling and not-Batik Air factors will give it more legs.Depends if there's airport, private or even territory subsidies involved for the flights, if so it'll be at least 2 seasons minimum.
Is it possible to connect with SQ947?Initial schedule:
VA127 CBR 1520 DPS 2005 73H Day 6
VA127 CBR 1610 DPS 2055 73H Day 13
VA128 DPS 2145 CBR 0535 +1 73H Day 6
VA128 DPS 2210 CBR 0600 +1 73H Day 13
Service is seasonal and will operate April-January, with scope to increase frequency in peak periods.
Same day connections are available to BNE, OOL, MEL and SYD.
Connections will be a big part of this add. The bilateral between Indonesia and major AU ports is exhausted so they have to get creative if they want to add DPS capacity.
They already carry a surprising amount of connecting traffic on their OOL-DPS flights, so I don't think they'll have any trouble getting people to connect in CBR too.
