Today I emailed to ask about deferring the gift. I received a reply today saying that I should ask after my anniversary date. No outright "not possible". They knew who I was because they mentioned the number of SCs I was gifted, which I hadn't stated in my email. I replied with a thank-you, then received an automated email saying delays in response!

Keeping my fingers crossed!

I've now had success with moving the gift into my next membership year by calling. They had to escalate it, i then called again a few days later and it was chased up and approved. This year is off to a good start!

Hmm.... I might have a go at trying to get my gift moved into my current member year (just started). I was already WP when the thank you gift was awarded but moved up to P1 without the assistance of those bonus 150SC. If successful, that could potentially see me with 400SC in my account for the current member year before any flying is factored in.

I received my 150 SC on 3 Sep but I already had more than enough SC to requalify for WP - my membership year just ticked over in Nov, so I just called Qantas and they will move the 150 SC into this new year - so even though it was 2 months ago, it can still be moved.

Rang them today about this (i know its late!). Received 150SC on 03 September, year end 30th September. Already had flights booked to requalify me by year end so didn't need the SC's.
Customer service agent knew exactly what I was talking about, and had a confirmation in about 5 minutes. Said they will appear in my account within the next 24 hours.

I’ll add in a family member, they had not requalified when they got the thank you SCs but had upcoming flights to requalify for SG by 30 Sep.

Told them to send in the email, sure enough got the 80 SCs moved to this status year.

I think the consensus is QF were only willing to delay it for members who have already qualified for their current level and membership year starts no later than end of this year.

Worth a try but the initial advice posted on this forum was that it was for 90 days.

I was in similar situation where I was about 20SC short of requalifying when the loyalty SC was gifted but had flights already booked a few weeks after which netted another 200SC, so would’ve safely qualifying for platinum without the gift prior to my membership ship ending.

Initial request to have the gift moved to new membership year was declined as I did not qualify prior to loyalty gift being received. Have to ring and email requesting escalation before they agree to moving the SC into the new membership year. So not a given but worth persisting!
