Hello,
What are the best tools for detailed seat maps?
My preferred platform has always been seatguru, although my understanding is that it is no longer being maintained.
Aerolopa seat maps don't appear to match the seat map I get from Qantas for my flight.
Experflyer does appear to match the Qantas map, but I miss the seat recommendations I used to get in seatguru.
Opinions? Are there any others?

Aerolopa definitely over seatguru these days. What aircraft are you struggling with?
I was looking at QF81 SYD->SIN in premium economy.
The Qantas map shows row 21 as the first row, just behind the lavatories.
They don't specify which variation of the A330 they are using, but looking at the Aerolopa maps, none of the A330 varieties seem to have premium economy at all.

The issue with Flight Seats is that using the free tier I can only search a couple of months ahead. My flight is next year.
What dates are you looking at?

If you are looking at premium economy on an A330 then that would be one of the Finnair wet leased aircraft. Premium economy on those aircraft are rows 21, 22 and 23.

But then how would they appear on Aerolopa? Do I need to search for Finnair rather than Qantas?

No.

Go to the Qantas tab on Aerolopa and scroll right down to the bottom. It is the last aircraft listed on the Qantas page and is under a heading "Wet Leased".
Ah. Good spotting thanks. I didn't scroll down all the way to the bottom.
Now that this is resolved, I'm still missing those recommendations I used to get on seat guru, such as no window or proximity to the lavatories. Aerolopa gives me the map, but there are no comments against individual seats. Qantas give me the same map already, although only for the relevant class rather than the whole plane.

So seatguru has finally been shut down!

Most bloggers and news sites are reporting this, but also saying that aerolopa is not a suitable replacement because it lacks commentary on which seats to choose.

I disagree.

Aerolopa is an exact representation of the layout. It shows missing windows exactly and perfectly aligned with seats. It shows all WCs. It even shows which rows might have an extra inch or two of legroom in economy compared to other seats (for example the leased Finnair for Qantas, or the Finnair a321s which have an extra inch of legroom on the left side towards the rear of the aircraft)

Seat guru didn’t do that.

And who needs the ‘proximity to the galley/WC may be bothersome’ on every bulkhead and last row? Those comments weren’t in the slightest bit helpful.

I would say that Aerolopa takes those comments and shows you a relatively accurate sized version of the plane to make up for it.

You then can look at seeing the position of the seat/toilet/galley and it'd be a relatively accurate representation overall. You can then make your own decisions on each one or if more info is needed as the community.

Alot of the old comments/recommendations were just that for the most part. There's even things like ok the new 321xlr you can clearly see slightly bigger rows beyond just row 6 and overwing emergency exit.

This isn't really shown on the QF maps at all.

I guess you're right. I was making the assumption that the Aerolopa seat map is just a rough layout, but it's actually an accurate map showing the location of windows, relative position of the rows to each other, detailed data about the seats, wi-fi etc.
It just requires a slight mind shift to read the data from the map rather than being fed recommendations.

But half the recommendations on seatguru were far from reliable. For example on some airlines it advised against bulkhead business class seats because of galley noise, even if was a dry galley (not used in flight).

Very few of the recommendations or commentary were tailored to the specific airline… it was 99% generic. A bulkhead or emergency exit ‘might’ have extra legroom. The last row ‘might’ not be able to recline (even if it did).
