Two month trial of Platinum Plus

I was upgraded to P+ as part of the trial and so far the only difference I've noticed is VIP on my boarding pass and the (very welcome) Australian call centre. Bit sad that you have to spend $24,000 a year to get help in your own language! It's early days yet so we'll see how we go. I'm very close to P++, with about 3900 SC's currently. I wonder if that would give me 320 kg luggage allowance? I could offset trip costs, running an express freight service.

No, but I find I frequently don't get help in various versions of English.

Many years ago, @QF WP had organised one of these when Brett Godfrey was boss and we went into head office. I believe that this was prior to Plat being introduced which was my main request at the time.
The big thing for me would be the free upgrades being wasted. I reckon i've barely managed to use 2 of them in the last 3 years, then they expire.
Im booking on flexi for every flight now but the chances of getting an X class seat to use them are almost nil.

I been lucky used all four without too much hassle within 8 months, but banked option would be great.
The stupid thing for me is the lovely staff advised me to call on the day perhaps, but as I explained to the lady that the upgrade bids would beat me. She was a little confused by that.
For me I can buy flex or business class fares at normally a third to a half of QF, so until that changes I am with VA.
Save money and get home as quick as possible

I’m not worried about getting into the beyond lounge but maybe they could open up the bne overflow lounge on a Monday morning etc for Plat+ members.
Bne is standing room only today and people are just walking out.
I can see why they want to thin the herd.

For business you’d expect to be #1 for meal choice.

For economy, not sure there’s anything they can do?

It’s hard to think of any aspect where Qantas Platinum One (or even Platinum) doesn’t beat VA Platinum Plus…. Except for P+ 5x32kg baggage allowance (which I’ll never use).

For me the big disappointment is lounges. The fact that P+ use the same lounge as a red member with an (eligible) Amex is very disappointing

Initially refused entry and told I would be welcome in the Gold lounge. Politely suggested P+ is new and should have access. She waved me through, but not sure if it was legit. She was scrolling her scanner and seemed to log me as VA WP.

Anyway, it's the first additional benefit I've received as P+

Curious if you had the status linked on your boarding pass, as the boarding pass would show the lounge invitation? Departing Singapore, it lists which specific lounge you can use.

If they've had to select your status in their scanner, it usually means they're doing it manually. I find that usually happens if I haven't linked my Velocity number but I'm using the Velocity status for lounge access anyway.

VA number in booking, states "VA VP" on boarding passes. BNE-SIN has the standard "you are invited to use the silver Kris", SIN-PKX is blank in this regard.

Perhaps the system picked up there is something different in SIN (vs BNE) but is not sure what, so doesn't print anything on the boarding pass.
