Virgin change/cancellation fee increase to $109

Virgin Australia increased its change & cancellation fees on Lite & Choice fares from $99 to $109 on 27 August 2025. The higher fee applies to bookings made on/after that date.

Qantas increased its fee from $99 to $110 on 29 July 2025.

Needs to be some form of regulation on these fees. Retailers can’t get away with such fees, banks have been put under the microscope recently.

If the banks had thought to introduce Chairman's Lounges, they'd have gotten away with their practices as well!

I think it is obscene that airlines get away with us providing them with working capital for up to a year in advance AND they charge us to make a an update to our booking. I get cancellation fees (with the caveat that it should be zero six months or more in advance) but change fees are a disgrace - unless using points.

Wow, what a coincidence… they upped the price and kept it exactly $1 below Qantas.

I can see the slogan now:

“Book your Virgin Australia ticket with confidence — Australia’s lowest change fees!”
