2025 Amex Membership Rewards Devaluation

Am I correct in reading that Ascent program points can still be transferred to partners per the current earn rates post changes? I.e. CX 2:1 rate continues?
No, you are not correct. The changes affect all "flavours" of MR points including Gateway, Ascent and Ascent Premium.

CX is one of the programmes whose redemption rates will change from 2:1 to 3:1. Rates to a few programmes such as Qantas FF, Velocity and KrisFlyer will not change.

Ideally there’d be an AMEX to Avios bonus before devaluation. But I only remember one when option was first introduced. Was there ever another one?

so what are the strategies people with large point balances are deploying?

Thinking if we all start sharing some of our thinking we can help each other?

As a family of 5, we can generally find availability for all 5 of us on Singapore, which is not changing, so not rushing to dump points elsewhere while this SQ will offer similar value as elsewhere post Dec change

Had decent reward availability on cathay but generally its 3 reward +2 cash or 4+1, they have the 10% promo ending soon that would be good to take advantage of

We're planning the following trips:
- Fiji / Bali early 2026
- Egypt + south west Europe late 2026 / early 2027
- Japan late 2027

Thinking of transferring entire points balance to BA Avios, possibly buying ‘boost’ Avios at same time as good value. Then try and use on QR/BA J in yrs to come.

What makes the travel insurance so good?
The insurance PDFs are public fyi but the tldr is that with Amex / Chubb, the insured limits are generous, coverage is fairly easy to activate, and Amex / chubb are very VERY easy to deal with and tend not to fight you on claims.
