New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Appreciate the 80 status credits and the 2500 points, but the DSC promotion gives with one hand and takes with the other for me.
There are no cheap fares right now, and if I wanted the status credits it boils down to purchasing them due to inflated fares.
Not quite the promotion we have had in the past.
It's basically the same without DSC contributing to LT status. Honestly can't please some. This is the 2nd DSC offer in 6 months, they're making it pretty simple if you want status.

I agree, but given I'd be very close to Silver, I was just moreso looking what options there would be to reach it, given the additional 40 SC bonus brings me very close.
In that case, a short hop booked when the next domestic sale is on will be cheapest.

Anyone know when do they do that?

From my understanding, the DSC is only credited after the flight. If so, even though I don’t need the status this year, I could book under the double status offer for next year ( fly date after my membership renewal) to use towards requalification for 2026 status. Is that right?

I do agree though, it’s unfortunate that it doesn’t count towards lifetime status.

Yes, booking for your next loyalty year. That's what I am doing this weekend. Just have to book by 3 September 2025, for travel between 4 September 2025 and 22 August 2026.

With one exception, silver's not really worth busting a gut for. One lounge pass and priority check-in are the main benefits (and seat selection if not booked through Qantas directly).

The one exception is if you're flying in the US soon as Oneworld Ruby saves you a motza on checked bag fees on AS and AA.
Checking in at J counters can be a useful perk as well for those insanely busy int'l flights.

No you're right.
Horses for courses. Knock yourself out if you need status.

Let’s hope the “not counting towards lifetime” part is just a one-off — when has Qantas ever done anything generous? I hit Gold about eight months ahead of schedule, but as more of a leisure flyer I’ll likely fall well short of Platinum, even with the loyalty gift and this promo.

I’ll either sit this one out or maybe front-load my travel into this membership year (instead of early next) to cover the 350-credit shortfall and experience Platinum for one year before the soft landing back to Gold.
I received this response from customer service following submitting my feedback.

Our Lifetime Status program is designed to recognise our most frequent flyers. To maintain the exclusivity and value of Lifetime Status, and to ensure it accurately reflects a member’s sustained loyalty through flights flown, bonus Status Credits including those from promotions such as the current Double Status Credits offer and loyalty gifts will no longer count towards the Lifetime Status Credit balance.

This change has been made to ensure that Lifetime Status continues to reflect a member’s core flying history and supports the long-term sustainability of the program.
It seems to be an ongoing provision, unfortunately. Looks like the game is up (so will my business).

They fail to see the future

If people get LTG and go elsewhere sure
I’d they keep flying … nyet

As someone with an end-July membership renewal, the bonus is just a bit more useful for requalification, though not counting towards LTS is a big bummer. At least it wasn't like the free SCs last time which was awarded end July, when I've already requalified.

I'm guessing PC/PC+ still earn DSC for award flights, or is that culled too? I don't see anything in the offer terms mentioning Classic Flight Rewards.

Well now the shackles are off my wrist (I'm LTG), with no desire to attain LTP, I'll be registering for the double points (as I don't fly enough on QF to go for Platinum in any year). Will be adding to my small stash for point upgrades...
Me too, I took points.

lol. This is completely useless to me as my year ends on 30 Sep and I've not credited anything to QF this year - as all my flying this year has been on redemptions or oneworld flights that earn almost nothing in QF.

Even though it's only 40 SCs, if they were credited to my next year, that would have generated some goodwill, but I'm now actually considering changing my paid QF flights for next year to be credited to Finnair.

Do I still get the double status credits if I book via AMEX using my travel credit, or is it essential to book direct with Qantas?

Like I said, it's completely up to you. I was just giving you another option.

But given the additional context you provided - I agree it is probably easier to just fly somewhere on discounted fares.

This DSC is has me in a pickle as my re-qualification is in 31st August. I've already set locked in Gold for this year and next year taking me to August 2027 before i drop down to silver.

But the timing of this is making me question should i go big and try to go for WP (Short of 680SC) which would push back my drop to silver to August 2028. Or just got keep retaining Gold through ever yearly DSC. I guess it'll save me a year of not having to spend for Gold lol .....

I can never book quickly enough to make use of these offers. i have to be in the middle of a booking process as it can take a week to 10 days to organise any travel and I have other things to do, including, this time, already travelling during the promotion period..

Yes, see copy and paste from the QFF website:

Flights can be booked via the Qantas website, the Qantas App, a travel agent or Qantas Contact Centres. Fees and charges may apply. If you’re a Qantas Business Rewards member, you can also book via your Business Account.

Disappointed with DSCs no longer contributing to LTG. LTG seemed achievable, now it will take me ~40% longer (as ~40% of my SCs earn each year are DSCs or loyalty bonuses) meaning higher risk of further devaluations along the way making it harder harder to lock in.

My FF year started 1-Aug and I already had sufficient bookings from the last DSC earlier this year to requalify again by end of Jan (and hopefully those DSCs still do contribute towards LT).

But little incentive for me to book anything this promo. The gifted SCs are of no use as do not contribute to LTG and Im never ever going to be P1.

Well! The responses here definitely classify us a frequent flyers!

I wonder if there is a medical condition called "SC anxiety". Ok I may be one myself! Guilty as charged! As I said before the cure is just to book your next flight! Travelling next week and already thinking of my next flights in October and the month after.
